Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

possible.... sure but it's not going to happen overnight and most likely not at all as i understand the bitcoin team is working hard to overcome the slow and shitty network, once those issues are fixed its going to be even harder for other coins to compete.

I don't think anyone really can challenge bitcoin because all alts have functions/platforms.

I think we should be focusing on upcoming industries that will be huge in crypto such as securities. Polymath is building a platform for launching security token projects. They are essentially shifting the stock market onto the blockchain. https://polymath.network/

If you meant about the scalability challange and majority of altcoins were better then the bitcoin on its scalability but for the actual use and mass adoption looks bitcoin will not replaceable.
Even ethereum as the second largest crypto at this moment can't challange the bitcoin on the mass adoption.

Bitcoin is very hard to challenge but it’s not impossible. The crypto market still needs strong alt coins to fix some main problems. We need to wait and see.

I may be being very skeptical, but I believe 98.9%, that not there will be a coin that will challenge Bitcoin, there may be coins that will complement the history of digital currency such as Ethereum, Bitcoin is unique, what comes next is complement, remembering that is my opinion.

In fact at this precise moment multiple altcoins are emerging that are challenging the supremacy of bitcoin, for which the dominance of bitcoin has fallen from 90% a few months ago to 42% today, which clearly means that the market is looking for alternatives to solve the multiple limitations that bitcoin has. We must remember that the market of cryptos is very new and innovative altcoins are still to come that will undoubtedly surpass by far the current coins, leaving the bitcoin helpless to face the new challenges.

This is inevitable. Bitcoin has a too much outdated tech and problems of scalability and eco-compatibility and it is destined to be replaced by some other coin. We still ignore which one, though.

Do you think that will appear new altcoins can challenge Bitcoin ?

Today we see many serious crypto currencies besides Bitcoin. But no currency could overcome Bitcoin. BTC has the popularity, capitalization and infrastructure which are developed and maintained millions of people.

it is possible on market cap and growth percentage, but not quite on price and reputation. since bitcoin has a small supply and it is the first cryptocurrency
an example is ripple, which now in the second pace of market cap, it is possible for it to exceed bitcoin's market cap in 2018, but not price / unit, since there is a huge supple with the coin.

Definitely, with time the altcoins will surpass Bitcoin. Bitcoin has the advantage of being the first on the market, but its targeted application to products and services is limited. It's hard to see the crypto-economy reversing itself, while the fall of one currency is not only believable, but as with all things - inevitable. It may take a long time, however, so an investment in Bitcoin is still a very plausible strategy!

On their own? No. But collectively yes i do believe they can. We have ROI rise through ICO's for altcoins. I think as more and more interesting companies are starting their ICO's from ranging brands such as Cryptobnb and STK (where you can actually uses their tokens for things you would need in day to day life) then the profits of having many altcoins could surpass having BTC.

Bitcoin dominance rate (BDR) is much lower than 45%. Mostly it's because of bitcoin cash with $40B cap. I think that there will appear many other alts in 2018 which reduce BDR even lower.

Highly doubt any crypto will take BTC's place.

It's the entry point to market and the biggest trading pair.

The whole fact that Bitcoin is the top trading pair next to USD and the other currencies/coins means a lot. There is no coin that is large as Bitcoin for now.

The most valuable invention was the blockchain and not the bitcoin.
Bitcoin was the pioneer in the world of cryptocurrency and show the way to the rest of the coins.
I am sure that in the future, we are going to see many alternative coins using different algorithms and offering more anonymity than this one. Bitcoin is already challenged today due to high fees which makes impossible to buy just a cup of coffee.
The rest alts have much lower fees than Bitcoin which makes more convenient to use them.
