Now bitpay started using bitcoin payment protocol, it's not possible to make any bitpay invoices unless you have an wallet that support Bitcoin payment protocol.

But until now I did not manage any Bitcoin wallet that support bitcoin payment protocol and that works with Mac computer.

What are you guys using for wallet when paying bitpay invoices? Which one does work with Mac computer?

Electrum (https://electrum.org/#download) is Bitcoin Payment Protocol compatible and has a version for Mac. It's a very good desktop wallet, is actively maintained and has a solid community here on BCT (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0)

Note, you can also just use Electrum to find the Bitcoin address to send to if you want to continue using your old wallet Wink It's a bit fiddly, but it IS possible to get the address out of a Bitcoin Payment Protocol request.

Can you please tell me how to get the bitcoin adress from Electrum?

You mean the recieving address (generated by your wallet)?
If so: Just click on the 'Recieve'-tab. Thats your 'next' (unused) address.
If you want to choose a specific address (out of the electrum-generated, of course) you can click on the 'Addresses'-tab.
There you will see 20 addresses which all belong to your wallet. Further addresses will be generated on demand.

I suspect he means the "PayTo" address from the Bitcoin Payment Protocol Request... given that is what this thread is about Wink

Once you copy your "BitPay" URL (that will look something like): bitcoin:?r=https://bitpay.com/i/E7k9yzqmMAgdnBP1WwFF6M

You can goto Electrum, click on "Send" tab and in the "Pay To" box, paste the URL, it will setup the Transaction. If you have the funds, you can "preview" it and see the SendTo address... if you don't have funds, you can right click on the invoice at the bottom and select "show details".

It will display "Amount @ BitcoinAddress" like this:

That is the required amount (without fee) that needs to be sent... and the address that it needs to be sent to... NOTE that these are still time limited... you need to ensure your transaction is sent within the allotted time or it will expire. You also need to make sure the fee is ADDED to the amount sent... otherwise you'll underpay and BitPay will most likely freak out.

WARNING: doing this manually may result in sending to the wrong address or wrong amount if you screw it up. I accept NO liability if you attempt this and get it wrong Tongue

As per the information here: https://bitpay.com/pay-with-bitcoin

There are TWO "costs" involved with paying by bitpay... Firstly, they have their so-called "network fee"... this fee is what bitpay use to recoup the costs of them having to pass your payment on to the merchant. You're effectively subsidising the miners fee that bitpay need to pay to consolidate your payment into their main wallet/cold storage etc. This amount is included in the total invoice amount you have to pay bitpay.

Payment Amount = X BTC
Network Fee = Y BTC

Bitpay Total Invoice Amount = X+Y BTC <-- This is the amount that bitpay must receive.

The 2nd "cost" is the miners fee that you need to pay to send your transaction to bitpay... So, the actual total cost to you will be the (Bitpay Total Invoice Amt + Miners Fee to send transaction to Bitpay). The miners/transaction fee you pay is dependent on network conditions at the time of payment and how your wallet determines the fees etc.

NOTE: That Electrum will ADD your transaction fee to the amount you are sending, it does not subtract it... so as long as you have enough funds in the wallet, and you enter the "Bitpay Total" amount into the "Amount" box on the "Send" tab in Electrum, then Bitpay will receive the correct amount.
