Hi,

I am new to this forum so apologies if I have posted in the wrong forum. I wasn't sure if this was solely a blockchain.info problem so I have posted here instead of in the Web Wallets section.

Using Coinomi, I am trying to redeem btg from btc that I held on blockchain.info at the time of the btg fork on 10/24/17. I am referencing the following article from Coinomi support on how to get private keys from blockchain.info in order to redeem the btg. https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000013719-how-to-get-bitcoin-cash-from-many-wallet-software-services-with-coinomi

I have run the standalone tool attached to the article, entered my seed, and it spits out a list of my blockchain.info addresses and their private keys. I cross-check these and they match up to what is listed within my blockchain.info account. So far so good.

The problem is that when I enter the applicable private key for the blockchain.info btc address that I believe held btc on 10/24, Coinomi says "there are no funds in this wallet." Of course I have double checked that there indeed were/should have been btc in the wallet on 10/24. I received btc to the address in question in August and I don't see any transactions out of this address at any point after that. (I only do a few transactions per month, I'm not wading through hundreds of transactions, so there's little likelihood that I'm somehow missing something.)

In blockchain.info, when you go to settings>addresses, and then click on "manage", there is a section at the bottom for "used addresses." I've looked at the used address for the wallet I'm trying to redeem btg from and it says its balance is 0 btcs. I've entered the private key for this address into Coinomi all the same to check that the btg isn't tied to it.
So I have one "current address" for this wallet, and one "used address" for this wallet, and neither of them have the btg, and I've checked that the btc were in that wallet on the applicable date. What am I missing here?
Thanks.

Have you tried to check both addresses in a BTG block explorer to make sure if there is any funds on them?

If the addresses aren't empty, then there is a problem with Coinomi and you will need to try with a different wallet. The other wallet I know is Bither[1]. I used to use them between 2015-2016 and I can say that I trust them. They have a option to sweep your BTG directly from the imported address, so it's pretty use to claim them[2].

Did you try checking some of your change addresses? On the standalone tool, on the BIP44 tab, you need to set the "External/Internal" value to 1 (instead of 0) to see your "change" addresses and associated private keys.

If you have the transactionID for the transaction in August in which you think you got the BTC... put that into btgexp.com (unfortunately btgexplorer.com is broken at the moment Sad) and then check the BTG addresses that it shows received coins... see if they still have balance.

I also noticed that Blockchain.info started to offer support for Bitcoin Cash, but there are no option to import or sweep Bitcoin Cash from paper wallets. I would have thought that they would include that feature for the people who use their service.

I think they only included the wallet for BCash, to enable people to sell BTC for BCash and visa versa. <cashing in on the trade fees?>

Thanks for the info guys, I didn't know about btg explorers.

Ok so here's the original transaction in blockchain where I received 1.85 btc to the address 1EtuLFnTQt9sEWpQYnPUFVJrocEEbSbVWb. This is the "used address" that I mentioned in OP that I tried to enter the private key for in Coinomi and was told it's empty:

https://i.imgur.com/rvHi2vL.png

When I input the transaction ID into btgexp.com it shows the transaction...

https://i.imgur.com/7VNUsdd.png

...and clicking to the next step it appears to show I've sent out the entire amount...

https://i.imgur.com/W25EBMU.png

...continuing...

https://i.imgur.com/jLAq8Qr.png

It shows that I sent the btc out in two transactions. The 1.75 btc send is accounted for in my blockchain.info history, the other send for just over .1 btcs, is not. Furthermore this .1btc is accounted for, it's currently sitting in the blockchain.info address that I'm trying to get the btg for. This is the "current address" I mentioned in OP. I received 1.85 btcs, sent out 1.75, and should have .1 left over at that address. This certainly appears to be the case according to blockchain.info. However the btgexplorer seems to be suggesting I sent the .1 btcs out to a different address.
Now I'm even more confused haha  Huh

Their support for bch definitely seemed like a cash grab. IIRC They were charging like 20-25% in unexplained fees to convert bch to btc. There didn't seem to be a note about what the fee was for or anything, like it was just their administrative fee. (?) I think they were just trying to take advantage of people who only use one wallet and didn't want to open a new one. Personally I just sent my bch to bittrex to exchange it there.

This address (1EtuLFnTQt9sEWpQYnPUFVJrocEEbSbVWb) really has no btg's and that is because if you look at its transactions, all funds were withdrawn at block 478736 and that means that it doesn't have any bitcoins stored at the time when the snapshot took place (Block 491406). If I'm not wrong since its a fork of bitcoin, the transaction history in it should still be identical until the snapshot.

The address (17qrzjzzwZHa822cAbe1TL7B4zzKki5D9u) where the .1BTC resides must be a change address. I checked it with block explorers and it has a balance of 0.10120542 BTG, And its equivalent address is this: GQgnQsKwvQtsCVKu6YJ7t6T4zAnAoyzQJg.

Is this still from your HD wallet in blockchain.info? If so you can again use the tool and follow what HCP says to check your change addresses private keys.

This will happen when services like this think they have the competitive advantage and a monopoly. We should keep them on their toes and support alternative services, when they abuse their advantage.

The miners fees charged on BTC transactions was also VERY high, but after people complained in public, it came down. I think they add some administrative fees to that too. ^grrrrrr^

Yeah and they alternatives are ?  Undecided For someone using blockchain.info as their primary storage wallet, there are no alternatives since everything else is too "technical" for them.

The miners fees charged on BTC transactions was also VERY high, but after people complained in public, it came down. I think they add some administrative fees to that too. ^grrrrrr^
*but after people complained in public* LMAO OF THE FUCKIN CENTURY Mate, you sure you have an idea how bitcoins work ?  This isn't a government where people  'protest' and the policies are changed instantly lol
Miner fees have nothing to do with anything you claim to be.The fees din't "come-down",the network just isn't congested much and the fees are still pretty high for small-medium sized transactions.Just don't speak if you don't know shit lol

Nice, it looks that your problem is settled now.

And regarding with the post-interval with the forum its due to your current rank as newbie to prevent spam and for security reasons. And for the fee, I guess the ip address used has evil points which has been explained here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=711968.msg8044683#msg8044683.
