We all know there are a few coins that are dying out because the devs bailed out with the premine parachute. I was talking to a few guys and they suggested that devs of current coins like Franko, FST, DGC etc take over the dev of these coins and help get them actuall profitable again. What is your opinion?

It isn't possible to desirable to try to make every coin profitable.

1) There isn't enough bitcoin support The alt community has a specific amount of capital to spend on altcoins. If every coin tried to be profitable, none would be profitable.

2) Tose coins died for a reason. We didn't let a sound coin with significant innovation die. It can be argued that the coins that have succeeded are too similar as it is, why would you want them to become profitable? We don't want to spread the hashrate out.

3) Those devs are busy. They work their asses off already, so they likely don't have time to fix other coins. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable asking them to resurrect someone else's coin instead of building their own coin community.

Just my opinion, of course.

let them die - but in the process , don't 51% attack them  as that will only give them press and then some scammer will pick it up and try to make it into something/pretend it wasn't premined or a scam from its origin.

best just let the market decide these things , as most are not so much "cryptocurrencies" as a way to happily bilk people of actual cryptocurrencies , how can you revive something like that ?

i mean FTC , might , i mean might,  make it but i honestly doubt it , dumb guys will keep doing the same thing for a long time after realizing its dumb, its easy to cut and paste .

So you don't "need" a poll , do what we all do , know they are a scam and support honest currency.

i could agree with that, and by working on BTE i can definitly agree life's too busy, one of the main reasons ive got back into tenebrix is because people like Wolf and Lolcust actually have some good ideas, innovations i reckon to be implemented into the revived coin which no dev has been able to figure out yet

If i were to give you political advice ahmed - the time is right now to sponsor a gpu miner for this currency as if you do not at least open the discussion on here , you run the strong risk of looking like you and a small group are trying to bring back from the grave a former pre-mined currency for another run at the pre-mine press .

Tenerbrix i actually like the name and I'm sure our team could do something with that , but without peer community support , its dubious retrospective past is problematic .

also of course there is the question of the original Block chain , where are all those units now?

i'll give this a "too many problems , not much direction. "

I actually brainstormed to fix hypercoin, then I couldn't even get the rooted blockchain to start downloading with so I abandoned it. Same with NAN.

as far as i know although its not confirmed, they are to be made into a coin mixing service but somehow unspendable, e.g. in the coin's code it somehow works like this: coins are sent to a specified address and that address auto sends some new coins back, although i am not sure. Cgminer should work with tenebrix although i cannot confirm it myself since i dont have a gpu to mine. Although as some people have heard im working on a new tenebrix client as the old one wont work at all, to allow people to solo mine and if all goes to plan add it to my pool collection and allow people to pool mine, i also until a few weeks ago had tenebrix included in my IRC faucet bot in the #crypto-expert, #digitalcoin, #bytecoin, #tenebrix channels for people to get various free coins

EDIT: im sure you all can see on my various pools that i dont even have a hashrate listed, all i make my money from is pool fees and the trading of these fees

mudda:

so NAN is gone for good ?

Ahmed -

ok that clears one of the pre-mine options , if CGminer would work with it now.

Which Tenebrix client are you trying that does not work?

Lolcust's Tenebrix-QT repo on github compiled the tenebrixd fine, mining works, people have been mining it a long long time.

I don't use GUIs so maybe you merely mean something in the GUI does not work or you are unable to compile the GUI or somesuch?

Tenebrix and Fairbrix. like Groupcoin, Coiledcoin and GeistGeld are quite popular with players because they are so cheap (not even on "exchanges") that they can play with them in games without worrying that other players will end up selling them for hookers and blow instead of for in game stuff.

Yet of course too I do not doubt they will enjoy cashing out if any of these game coins do end up being worth something outside of games. Smiley

I think I have a good HYC blockchain if you want to work on it. Even though I'm not sure if we should run around performing CPR on coins which were abandoned by their creators.

yeah im talking about the QT, not many people around would use the daemon so thats one of the main purposes of fixing it up. i reckon around 1% of the people here would actually know how to use a coin daemon

thats my idea, we call it ANT but we believe that it should be applied to non traded coins. Using traded coins would require the new coin to be pre-listed for trade, which is counter productive if the new coin is attacked/messed up. read up on Antimatter.

If the devs don't care anymore why should we? Any coin that the dev is still active but needs help would be cool to help out with. But when someone abandons their own project, its not worth saving

If we could get them culled it would be a blessing.  Too many bag holders that won't let their favorite little network die, and as long as they can get on something that looks like an exchange, why should they?>
