Bitcoin has been pumped though in an unregulated market, so it isn't exactly a scam, but isn't exactly as legitimate as other currencies and/or commodities.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Because it's something new and exciting that they can't and don't understand.  All they understand is power and greed and blockchain removes that power from those that have it.
You didn't think that it would be that easy to remove something that is the very foundation of society did you?

this is like a reminder that shows how scared they are of bitcoin!

as Andreas Antonopoulos said, bitcoin is an exit sign for everyone to get out of the corrupted currencies and the corrupted banking system. you can't expect them to remain silent while bitcoin gains more power everyday. even if they can slow it down by FUD, they will consider it a success.

Exactly, there are many people who do not realize that they are actually being tricked with their own money. Very low savings interest, monthly administration fees, network limitations, and interest on loans over single digits. This is what makes banking companies always reap a very high profit every year. Bitcoin offers something better than that, it just takes time for people to realize it.

It's NOT BTC that is the scam, its the community of criminals that make BTC the scam that it is, take out the human element and BTC would be ok Smiley

+90% of the people involved in BTC are 100% criminal minded

From how I read that article, the writer only calls a scam what is known as a pump and dump sceme.
And that is something that happend to the whole field of crypto currencies many times.
To bitcoin itself, he says that it has 'usefulness as a unit of exchange'.

  It's me!!!

It can’t be a “great scam” because everyone thinks it’s a scam. Bernie Madoff ran a “Great Scam”. It was around almost 30 years and everyone though it was legit. If bitcoin is a scam it’s a shitty scam because too many people recognized it too quick.

Actually it's not forbes magazine itself and it's just a post from a writer. So,don't mislead the community.Bitcoin has already faced many criticisms earlier and neither bitcoin, nor bitcoin holders would bother such statements against bitcoin. It would make no difference in the bitcoin market.
