I have $10,000 available to purchase mining equipment and unlimited free electricity provided through a company lease.

I am fairly computer literate but not an expert by any means. Don't build my own computers or write programs etc. What is the best way for me to go and what coin(s) should I look into mining?

Spend some of that 10K educating yourself.  I'll give you a free lesson though.

If you don't build your own computers, don't build a mining rig.  Take your $10k and go buy Bitcoin at $13.5k, sell at $16.5k, rinse, repeat.

NO!  He'll lose money every time doing that.  You have to buy it at 14.5k and sell it at 17.5k to make that magic internet money.

But how much cooling capacity do you have? -- You can have space and free electricity but if your cooling solution sucks, you're hamstrung on how much you can really mine.

My advice is you look into something that is turn key if you want to get started right away but my advice is to start small if you're limited on cooling, otherwise you may buy more hardware than you can run with the available cooling solution you have in place.

Examples of turn key mining solutions are pre-built GPU rigs that have already been configured with a software like SMOS or running Windows with the intention of running on a site like nicehash. Other examples include traditional ASIC miners, pick your poison on that but I recommend you order directly and not overpay through sites like Ebay for purchasing.

You can build three (6 GPU) rigs, each will mine $1000-$1200/month using NemosMiner and ahashpool.  You will get paid in BTC

Don't try to mine individual coins, let Nemosminer do all the work

FARM #1 : 60 GPUs spread across 6 rigs (1080ti/1080/1070ti/1070)
FARM #2 : 72 GPUs spread across 12 rigs (1070ti x 6)
FARM #3 : 16 GPUs spread across 4 rigs (1080ti x 4)
AntMiner S9 13.5TH / AntMiner L3+ x 2

Lesson 1: Learn how to not ask retarded questions.

Now that is a bit harsh.   Grin

Newcomer, you are going to have to build your own rig but I think you should absolutely do it.  Invest the $10k into buying about 16x GTX 1070 Ti's and make two rigs with it.  On Youtube, there is a good channel you can use as a valuable resource, Bits' B Trippin.  He posted a cradle to grave video about 8 months ago.  Search for it and make your own rigs.  it's not that difficult and its sort of fun. Smiley

You will need Windows 10 if you are to use more than 6 GPU's.  I suggested 8 GPU's each rig so... Windows 10 it is.

Good luck!

Its not harsh at all.
This question gets asked atleast once every day ~ people should atleast TRY to look for an answer.
It does not look like this individual has brains enough to do so, therefore its better he shoves his 10 grand up his arse

Hopefully you don't think editing your Christmas List in MSWord qualifies you as computer literate.  If you really aren't an idiot, I would say, go for it.  Build some gpu rigs.
