Continuous development is one of the main tasks our Sharpay team should do, and week by week we develop new significant functions and make improvements for our users!

Let us share with you some new important updates.

Added networks selection. We have added a new “Networks” selection function for webmasters. Now the webmasters can select and reward their preferred social networks which users can share content on. They can target their customers geographically by selecting different social networks, for example, they can select Weibo, Kakao Story and LINE only, if they want to target the Asian market.

Added async script option. When webmasters design their own buttons, they may turn off the async script loading if they want to use Sharpay client side API.

Refined password recovery. When users want to recover their passwords, instead of resetting their passwords by our system, users can enter new passwords by themselves. It becomes more convenient for users and they do not need to go back and forth.

Fixed locale switch bug. We have fixed the bug that happened when the browser’s non-English locale is in incognito bug mode.

Improved animated button. We have resized the iframe to avoid overlapping other elements on widget when hovering.

Improved email template UI and added Chinese translation. We have improved the email template UI and added Chinese translation especially for our Chinese community.

Sharpay development update: added delete project function, optimized database query performance, fixed Reddit and Line bugs, fixed merging account function, improved Medium news display and UI, updated Bootstrap.

We believe that only active development and improvement of our Sharpay buttons can drive our project forward. We continuously listen to our webmasters and button users to see what we can improve to give them a better sharing experience.

In the past few weeks, we have made a lot of updates on our Sharpay buttons, for example, we have:

1) Added delete project function. Webmasters are now able to delete unnecessary projects. They can manage them in “Webmaster Area”, edit and delete the project that they don’t need.

2) Optimized database query performance. We have optimized our database query performance when handling requests from wallet page.

3) Fixed Reddit posting error. We have fixed an error that occurred when using wallpost function to share news on Reddit.

4) Fixed Line text length error. There was a text length error when you shared a link with a description that contained more than 1500 characters. We have discovered it and fixed the bug.

5) Fixed Medium news display error. Before latest news published on sharpay.io did not display the title and some of the text was bold for some reason.

6) Fixed UI bug when removing the last social network. We have fixed a UI bug when user removes the last linked social network.

7) Fixed merging accounts bug. Before, Google G+ was ignored when merging different accounts, and now users can merge two accounts into one seamlessly.

8 ) Updated UI and Bootstrap. We have recently updated Bootstrap to version 4.2.1 and enhanced our user interface.

Sharpay development update: added Renren to direct sharing options, reward notification on Telegram, expanded user profile, updated WordPress and Cloudflare plugins, improved share counter display, floating share button, etc.

Sharing with blockchain rewards is our main unique feature, and we aim to popularize the cryptocurrencies. We keep moving forward and pushing our Sharpay to be the best sharing button in the market. 

Check out some of our Sharpay development we have made:

1) Added Renren to direct sharing. We successfully developed and added Renren, a big and growing Chinese social network, to our Sharpay direct sharing options. Now users are able to share news to Renren using direct share buttons.

2) Set up reward notification on Telegram. If users are connected their accounts to Telegram, they will be able to get sharing and conversion reward notifications from Telegram bot.

3) Expanded user profile for target audience. Users are able to enter “Age range”, “Gender”, “Country” in their profile, these will enhance the target audience segmentation for future reward development. You can use this option without adding real name and any personal data. We do not request, store or process your personal data (real names, passports / id cards / identity documents screenshots, etc.). You can use this feature at will, which in some cases will allow to pay you higher rewards for sharing links and promoting content.

4) Updated WordPress and Cloudflare plugins. We have updated the WordPress and Cloudflare plugins to match with our recent development updates.

5) Improved the display of share counter. The share counter is set on the opposite side of the widget. If user is using a right floating widget, the share counter will be on the left side.

6) Improved floating share button. We removed the “mini widget” and “animate” options and simplified the floating share button, now the floating share button is already minimized with animation.

7) Changed the “simple sharing” to “direct sharing”. We changed the “simple sharing” description to  “direct sharing” on share window and our system docs, we believe it is easier for users to understand and for our development.

Now we are carrying out a lot of work on the full-scale redesign of our entire system. As you have seen, the design of our site and our system is quite simple and we have not changed for more than a year. We decided to make everything very beautiful, stylish, more user-friendly and in a modern trend interface design.

Dear Sharpay Community Members!

Sharpay development update: Created a script to merge accounts with the same email & social networks, fixed database social network bindings, improved Telegram account binding, speeded up sharing window, added tools for system admin and improved alert UI.

Despite spending most of the time working on one of the main feature that we are going to release, we improved our Sharpay buttons and added some tools. Here are some of the development tasks we have done:

1) Created a script for merging accounts with the same email & social networks. We found that some users owned multiple accounts with the same social networks or emails that they accidentally created during registration using social networks. It was inconvenient and impossible to manage accounts for users. In order to detect and control duplicated accounts, we created a script for our system admin to automatically or manually merge accounts. This could also check each user account and accessibility and manage user accounts (to merge or duplicate account if necessary).

During this task, we discovered 59 inaccessible accounts that had neither password & email logins nor social network account bindings. These empty user accounts have been deleted by our system. There were 60 duplicated accounts, and our system have merged them accordingly. We have also sent emails to all the merged account users and notified them about the account changes.
 
With this new script and improvement, our system admin can check and monitor user accounts more easily and efficiently. It will also automatically send email notifications to users for any account changes.

2) Fixed database social network bindings. If the social network user is going to link to his Sharpay account has already used by another user, it will not work and will show user an error message. It can prevent user from creating multiple accounts using the same social networks.

We spent quite a lot of time to fix this social network bindings and it took us more time than what we expected. It was because we needed to test all 15 different social networks, and for each one we tested and corrected errors. Also, for linking social networks, it is tightly integrated with third-party authentication services that work only with our app.sharpay.io domain.
 
3) Created merging account tool for system admin. We created a tool for our system admin to detect and merge accounts with identical social network bindings. Before we needed to manual check and merge identical accounts which took us a lot of time.
 
4) Improved Telegram account binding. We improved the user identity field in our database and made sure it would be filled with a unique identifier when creating the Telegram account binding.
 
5) Speeded up the loading of the sharing window. We made asynchronous pull-up of metadata from the site to the sharing window in order to speed up the loading and improve performance.
 
6) Created passage mark for KYC in admin system. Now our admin will show a passage mark of KYC for those users who have passed the KYC for withdrawing their tokens bought in Token Sale.
 
7) Added a close button to alert messages. We have improved the UI with Bootstrap, users are now able to dismiss the alert messages manually by themselves.

Dear Sharpay Community Members!

We have made an important strategic decision to focus on developing our sharing with blockchain rewards feature only. Now, this is our main feature.

Our Sharpay buttons have 2 main features: multisharing and sharing with blockchain rewards, and we have always promoted them together before. Each of them is unique in itself.

When we started developing our multisharing button, we aimed to connect all top social networks around the world, so everyone can share website content to their favourite social networks in one click (multisharing feature). However, some of the largest world social networks and messengers, such as WeChat and Kakao never give anyone the opportunity to use their social networks for multisharing. We did countless requests, but they were ineffectual. That is because of their company policies. As WeChat and Kakao are the largest social networks in Asia, multisharing has never been full-fledged without them.

Not so long ago, Facebook also restricted the rights of developers. This is due to last year's Facebook database leak scandal, for which Mark Zuckerberg was justified in the US Congress. The restriction applies to all applications. Because of that, now our users cannot use the multisharing feature for sharing news to Facebook unfortunately.

As Facebook is the largest social network, we believe that this restriction is very essential for us. This finally clarified the situation, now it became clear that our first feature — multisharing in one click — without Facebook can no longer be equivalent to our second main feature — sharing with blockchain rewards. That is why we now decided to focus on the development and promotion of the Sharpay sharing with blockchain rewards feature as our only one major and unique feature.

However, it does not mean that we will give up and stop development or supporting our multishare feature! We only shift our development priority. Now multisharing on some large social networks is not possible yet, but periodically we will send them requests on using their API with advanced features. As soon as they approve our requests, we will definitely release it!

Now about the main thing.

Our sharing with blockchain rewards feature is automatic, unique and has no analogues. The use of this feature cannot be technically limited, therefore now we are not dependent on the policies of any social networks. And we have an international PCT patent priority on 152 countries for this (by the way, we will soon tell you in detail what it means).

Currently in accordance with our strategic vision, we are developing a new sharing window. As soon as the user decides to share interesting content from any site using our Sharpay share buttons, he will see a new sharing window with more technological features. The new sharing window will provide users all these three different methods for choosing:

- direct sharing with rewards
- multisharing with rewards
- referral link for sharing with rewards.

As the connected social networks in direct sharing and multisharing are different, all social networks in both sharing methods are different too. Unlike the old sharing window of which websites can only install one sharing option, either multisharing or direct sharing buttons, the new Sharpay sharing window will give users freedom and autonomous to choose different sharing methods.

We believe that with the usual clear-to-everyone sharing with unique features and focusing on sharing with rewards, Sharpay will succeed. Especially considering the fact that now you can do sharing with rewards on Facebook, WeChat, Kakao and all main social networks! It is very cool!

Now we are finishing work on updating our UI / UX and will soon make the official release of our new sharing window, user accounts, and also update our site, in accordance with the 2019’ UI / UX trends.

Sharpay development update: added Facebook Messenger to direct sharing, strengthened comment section’s validation in sharing window, improved share bonus calculation, fixed network region table, fixed floating widget display bug and etc.

We have been intensively developing our new features and improving our Sharpay share buttons. We have finished a lot of tasks, such as:

1) Added Facebook Messenger to direct sharing. Users are now able to share website content to Facebook Messenger. Sharing on Facebook Messenger is working on both desktop and mobile (iOS and Android) apps. The Facebook Messenger API works differently in desktop and mobile devices, so we need to work separately for that.

We need to detect user’s device first and then call different APIs accordingly. We expanded the networks table in our database, added different call function for the API and changed the redirection links.

Currently, it is available only on direct sharing, but once the API supports also our multisharing function, we will definitely develop and add it to our multisharing buttons.

2) Strengthened comment section’s validation in sharing window. In the comment section of sharing window, we improved the comment validation and security. When we were working on the validation, we also found out that if user wanted to share content with comment on LINE or Reddit, the comment could not be empty. We needed to consider different situation and sharing limitation on different social networks, and added different validation rules accordingly.

We have added length and content validation in the comment section in both front end and back end sides of our application. Now, users cannot write any URLs in the comment section, also in certain social networks, the users cannot share website content without leaving any comments. Otherwise, an error message will display to remind user.

3) Improved share bonus calculation. Every time users share website content on their social networks, our system will check and calculate the share bonus to prevent cheating on sharing. We have improved the script by taking out the “hour counter” component and adding the user’s active multishare list checking.

4) Fixed network region table. When we were working on the Facebook Messenger sharing function, we found that the network region table in our database had several errors and omissions. We therefore wrote a script to fix it.

5) Fixed floating widget display bug. When the mouse move around the floating widget, it did not display the background specified in the SVG image before. We have fixed the bug and updated the background colour. Now, the floating widget is working normally.
 
6) Fixed notification email for merging account. We found out that when we merged two identical accounts, the system would send notification email per account. We have therefore fixed it and now our system will check the duplicate email addresses and send only one notification email per email.
 
7) Fixed the sharing counter error caused by the change of encoding. We have corrected the error in the operation of the sharing counter due to the change of encoding.
 
8 ) Enabled user’s notification language. We added language option in the notification script. If user choose his language option, all notification messages will change in his language automatically.

Sharpay development update: fixed merging account crash, added Skype to direct sharing, SubReddit selection for binding Reddit account, fixed WeChat sharing error, extended sharing alert message etc.

Sharpay buttons sharing experience is strongly related to our development and of course it allows us to define our user journeys. We continuously improve our Sharpay buttons and regularly write news about it.

Let us tell you some of our completed development tasks:

1) Fixed merging account crash. We discovered an incomprehensible error in the logs that occurred during merge of accounts, the system was trying to connect accounts with itself. After we have analysed the code, the error was caused by a rare login situation. If a user who has a login session in the system and attempts to log in again, it will have such error. For example, a user opens the login page in two browser tabs and successively tries to log in to both. We decided to redirect the user to the main page when he performs the second login attempt.

We found a good fixation option to fix the bug. We had to substantially dig up and clean up the code in the controller methods which are responsible for the interaction (login, creating of a binding, merge) through social networks. As a result, this module has decreased by about 10% of total lines. We also added a couple of super-classes for social network classes in order to avoid duplication of the added code, and mainly, as a basis for future refactoring.

2) Added Skype to direct sharing. We have added Skype to direct sharing and now users are able to share website content to Skype. So far, users are able to share more than 20 different social networks using direct sharing, including Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, Telegram, Whatsapp, VK, Kakao Talk etc.

3) Added SubReddit selection for binding Reddit account. When users bind their Reddit account to app.sharpay.io, they are able to choose their SubReddit to share posts to. For existing users that have already binded their Reddit accounts and would like to change their sharing on Reddit, they could unpair it and bind their Reddit account again.

4) Fixed WeChat sharing error. Before when users shared to WeChat, the QR code was not generated properly and it did not work, we therefore have fixed the sharing error.

5) Extended sharing alert message description. When users get no bonus from sharing, it will give users a clearer message that the user’s social capital is too low and he can only receive tokens for each organic visit to the link he shared on his social networks.

6) Improved site domain unregistered error message. If the website was not registered in the domain list, users would not be able to share it to their social networks, and the system would throw a fatal error message. We took out the fatal error message, improved the error message UI and added the site domain unregistered error message. It is clearer for both users and webmasters.

7) Added a date filter in report. We have improved the UI and added a date filter button in the project’s report in Webmaster Area.

8 ) Improved direct sharing UX. If users want to share website content using direct share buttons to social networking applications (Viber, Facebook Messenger) that he has not installed, it will show users instructions to such application download pages.

Sharpay development update: improved Simple Queue Service for handing different system tasks, and added sending email function, added email addresses from different social networks for system optimization, Reddit posting restriction, improved webmaster report data obtained from Google Analytics, etc.

Every week, we announce our development news to our community. We believe improving user experience by our sustained development attracts not only new button users, but also more new websites to install our Sharpay buttons.

We have completed some tasks for our back-end, for example:

1) Improved Simple Queue Service for handling different system tasks. Simple Queue Service (SQS) is a fully managed message queuing service that enables our system to handle different tasks. Before we used SQS only to manage our sharing tasks, but we have decided to use it to handle more different tasks for our future development. So, we had to improve our script for SQS and make it compatible in handling different function calls.
 
2) Implemented Simple Queue Service for sending emails. After we have improved our SQS script for handling different tasks, we added sending email function. We removed the old mailResend function and added SendMailTask in SQS script for handling system email queuing and sending.

3) Added email addresses from different social networks for system optimization. We have improved the social network login script, and it will get and save user’s email address from different social networks. One user account may have multiple linked social networks, and by saving and detecting their email addresses, we can avoid creating duplicate user accounts by linking them together and optimize user social network table and system functions, for example, mailing and login.

4) Added comment length restriction for sharing posts to Reddit. When users share posts to Reddit, the comment will be trimmed to 300 characters as restricted by Reddit. Before, if users shared posts to different social media including Reddit, and the comment length was longer than 300 characters, it would show a posting error.

5) Fixed getting traffic statistics from Google Analytics. We fixed the data reporting from Google Analytics, and now the webmaster report will display all views from users who clicked the website links.

6) Added caching of data obtained from Google Analytics. We added caching of data obtained from Google Analytics, and now we can add new cashes quickly without affecting the whole system, and the webmaster report load time is reduced by one third.

7) Created separate CSS file for social network icons. We have made a separate a separate CSS file for social network icons with background colors, made a separate button formatting class (size, rounding, etc).
 
8 ) Checked plugin compatibility with WordPress 5.1. We have checked our Sharpay plugin version on WordPress. Our plugin version is compatible with the latest WordPress 5.1.

Dear Community!

Sharpay development update: set up confirmation method for conversion events, added create new project function to Sharpay plugin on Cloudflare, expanded logging when resending system emails, increased project deletion form’s security, etc.

We keep developing our Sharpay buttons in order to improve our system and your sharing experience. Here are some development tasks we have completed recently:

1) Set up confirmation method for conversion events. We considered Google Analytics Measurement Protocol as an example, and set up confirmation method for conversion events. When webmasters set up a conversion event, check and enable “Requires confirmation”, the conversion event will be confirmed on our server side. Our server will verify the conversion events and reward users conversion bonuses accordingly. A successful and valid conversion event flow is as follows:

A. A user shares website content on his social networks using Sharpay buttons.
B. A visitor clicks on the link shared by that user.
C. The visitor executes a conversion event (creating an order for example), and it will send us a request to verify.
D. When the event is made and confirmed by the website (the order is made and paid), it will send us a confirmation request. 
E. We will reward a conversion bonus to that user, if the event done by the visitor is verified.

2) Added create new project function to Sharpay plugin on Cloudflare. Before this update, webmasters needed to go app.sharpay.io to add their websites in order to use and link the Sharpay plugin on Cloudflare. Now webmasters are able to add different website projects to their Cloudflare Sharpay plugin without leaving Cloudflare, and select which project to link and run the Sharpay buttons.

3) Expanded logging when resending emails. We pulled the email sending error messages from the mail function and added some details in the logs in order to understand clearly the resending email reasons and errors. We also added email hashing function.

4) Increased the project deletion form’s security. We added a security code in the project deletion form to protect against cross site request forgery, and increased the form’s security.

5) Checked Mailru token update method. We checked the Mailru authorization token update method in the login script for Mailru. The script is responsible for checking login token validity, and we also improved the code for better performance.

6) Improved backend system tasks. We improved the performance of some backend system tasks.

And soon we will make an official release of our new site, in accordance with the 2019’ UI / UX trends.
