Apologies if this is already discussed in another thread somewhere, please point me to it if it has. In a nutshell:

From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7s7-09-oms&feature=youtu.be, Ver says

"Once the Bitcoin Core team succeeded in making Bitcoin less usable"

Absolute rubbish, sure, but it got me thinking about what his true modus operandi is because earlier he says (around the 1:20 mark)

"If Bitcoin Cash becomes popular enough and siphons away enough of the mining hash rate from Bitcoin Core in a short enough period of time, Bitcoin Core is in really big danger of coming to a screeching halt. "

Since Bitmain now takes BCash and Ver is already an investor in the big companies that support Bitcoin, possible that Ver and Bitmain are colluding to pull Bitmain's big pool away from Bitcoin and to BCash? I'm thinking Ver would then use his influence in his investments to get them to scream that the Bitcoin network has halted but never fear because Bitcoin Cash saved the day.

Am I nuts? Not making any sense at all? Have at me!

Try to use BTC and try to use BCH.

This is a fact, not opinion.

1 is usable right now. not tomorrow, not 5 years away, as in 5 seconds ago.

BTC is unusable.

You're not nuts, I definitely agree. In fact, Blocktrail.com (known as BTC.com now) got acquired by Bitmain and since then, It has insane fees which makes me think they are indirectly pushing people to switch to BCH. Blockchain.info is another big company, yet, it has no SegWit activated (Roger ver is an investor there). We can also see the mempool and see how a spam attack started just after NYA. I don't think it takes a genius to understand what's going on. As for those saying that Bitcoin is not usable. I say nobody can judge for now as services are delaying SegWit activation.

I’m confused why anyone would still trust Roger Ver about anything.

He was caught selling counterfeit computer equipment at MemoryDealers made by Donald Cone and Chun–Yu Zhao who were convicted of various charges under an indictment arising out of a scheme to import and resell counterfeit pieces of computer networking equipment, some of which bore the trademark of Cisco Systems, Inc. While Ver was never prosecuted for it I would never buy anything at a business Ver controlled.

He is a felon that spent time in a federal prison for online sales of illegal explosives.

He lied about MtGox costing people millions of dollars by keeping them from acting sooner. “I'm Roger Ver, long time Bitcoin advocate and investor. Today I'm at the Mtgox world headquarters in Tokyo Japan. I had a nice chat with MTGOX CEO, Mark Karpeles, about their current situation. He showed me multiple bank statements, as well as letters from banks and lawyers. I'm sure that all the current withdrawal problems at MTGOX are being caused by the traditional banking system, not because of a lack of liquidity at MTGOX”

He Astroturfs and buys forum accounts to push his agenda. He is a sociopath that renounced his citizenship to run to another country (a country where pedophila is not a crime btw, no proof-just sayin).

Is there some unwritten rule that you have to be a complete lunatic to be a major investor in cryptocurrency?

Yes. You are confused.

He was caught selling counterfeit computer equipment at MemoryDealers ... While Ver was never prosecuted for it I would never buy anything at a business Ver controlled.
Amazon sells counterfeit equipment, too. Should we prosecute Jeff Bezos for that? I assume that you would never buy anything at Amazon, right?

He is a felon that spent time in a federal prison for online sales of illegal explosives.
In the post-911 world, paranoia and hysteria run rampant in the U.S. People that sell bitcoins to you and me are going to prison, too.

He was duped. His is not a liar, just the patsy. Have you never been sure about something that turned out to be something else?

He is a sociopath that renounced his citizenship to run to another country (a country where pedophila is not a crime btw, no proof-just sayin).
He is the opposite of a sociopath, and considering his abhorrence of the evil that the U.S. government inflicts on the world, renouncing his citizenship was honorable and respectable. Your not-so-subtle attempt at slander is disgusting, btw.

Is there some unwritten rule that you have to be a complete lunatic to be a major investor in cryptocurrency?

To most of the world, yes. To forward thinkers and optimists, no.

Roger Ver thinks insider trading is not a crime. I suppose you support that as well?

Roger Ver tweeted: Since Bitcoin Core is no longer usable as a currency, we should no longer consider it to be a crypto currency. Is that your opinion too?

You are obviously a loon yourself or in collusion with Ver.

Edit: I just realized that you could be Roger. He did buy tons of accounts for astroturfing.

Now I understand why. The war is much worse than I expected.
I still hope that Ver will lose this, he really doesn't deserve to get his hands on people's money, he's too evil for that; but now I start to get scared.

Since Bitmain now takes BCash

Bitmain doesn't take BCH among others, they force you to use it to buy their miners, it's your only choice. It's the only thing that does take BCH and is pretty much the only thing that is propping up the BCH network. Bitmain is already taken a % (small %) of their pool and mines BCH because almost no one else does.
I for one do not trust a crypto that is wholly mined and used basically by one entity.

I agree core really needs to do something, but it is community coded, so, anyone is free to submit a patch/fix/enhancement on github to the main core code, it's not the responsiblity of the "lead" developers alone, it's only their responsibility to watch for consensus, ensure the code is sound and responsible and merge it in to the main branch. The main issue is, most things talked about to fix BTC is a hard fork, and the consensus of the BTC community and lead developers is to avoid hardforks if at all possible. That's the dilemma with core at the moment, nobody has a good way to "fix" BTC without a hard fork. Feel free to propose it! I didn't much like the idea of segwit2x because it wasn't a permanent fix, upping the blocksize to 2mb only alleviates today's issue with no though to preventing the 2mb from filling. So hardforking for a non-permanent fix is rather silly.

You're not nuts. But you're not the first to come to this series of conclusions, from the simple surmise of Ver's track record and current path. At least with Ver, you get quite a clear picture of what he wants. I guess you can respect people who want to go against the grain, but the reason he and his ilk can never gain outright support from most Bitcoin users (or I speak for my ilk anyway) is that he consistently makes wrong decisions, and has very little credibility because he speaks his heart - which changes alliance and direction depending on where the profit seems to be.

He's clearly driven and motivated by the commercial potential of Bitcoin Cash, were it to succeed. I do wish he'd do away with the pretenses of keeping alive original principles of Bitcoin. He'd probably fare a lot better if he just admitted it's all about the money.

I was quite surprised that while SegWit is already a couple of months old, most big companies avoid it, while much smaller ones understood its potential and try to use it.
Now I understand why. The war is much worse than I expected.
I still hope that Ver will lose this, he really doesn't deserve to get his hands on people's money, he's too evil for that; but now I start to get scared.

Segwit's almost half a year old now! Big companies are corporate minded, therefore amenable to the vision of Ver and Bitcoin Cash. I'm not too concerned about whatever war's being waged. Bitcoin has proven itself to be resilient. These "wars" probably make it healthy, stronger... it's a free world. People will choose, maybe wrongly at first. But the better way is always unclear, and this is just all footnotes in the history of Bitcoin. I actually rather like everything that's going on!

I'm talking right this second.

Segwit will fix all. Implemented and?Huh Nope.

At least BCH fixed the "right this second problem." At least they are trying to make a global currency for everyone.

BTC doesn't care about that.

Now talking future.

Lightening will fix everything. Well, your 1st lie didn't come true so not gonna believe this one.

There is a problem right now. Fix that. BCH did.

In early January, they will test the Lighting network, which will make transactions instant, for some transfers, and then for everyone, then everything will be used by bitcoin.

There is indeed some conspiracy going on here and Bitmain and maybe the Chinese are involved in what is going on here but the developers are so mute about what is going on to the extent that it has become like that they even care about what is going on.

Why do you have so much love for Mr. Ver(min) ?

He has done more for Bitcoin than you ever will, and I respect him for what he has been trying to do to improve the world. But, I have less love for him than the hatred you seem to have for him. I also defend Greg Maxwell from time to time, though I strongly disagree him on certain points.

Mostly, I object to ignorant people taking a side and attacking the people that aren't on their side.

You're a newbie. I recommend learning more and listening more before taking any side and closing you mind to any other perspectives.

Roger Ver thinks insider trading is not a crime. I suppose you support that as well?
He has solid arguments to back his opinion but I don't completely agree with him on that one. Still, that doesn't make him as evil as you portray.

Roger Ver tweeted: Since Bitcoin Core is no longer usable as a currency, we should no longer consider it to be a crypto currency. Is that your opinion too?

It's basic logic. If it is not usable as a currency, how can you call it a currency? If you can't eat a brick, can you call it food? Either way, it's not important. It's just words.

You are obviously a loon yourself or in collusion with Ver.
Edit: I just realized that you could be Roger. He did buy tons of accounts for astroturfing.

I'm not a loon. I'm not in collusion with Roger Ver. I'm not Roger Ver and I am not associated with him, though I have met him a few times.

Yes, all of the other people who have been busted for insider trading had the same feelings towards it as Roger. Nothing he says is new. He's just a tool and insider trading was made illegal for so many reasons it is a moot point to argue. BCH isn't a currency either because nobody uses it for anything. What a load of crap Ver shovels. That's why people despise him. Whatever he "did for BTC" (not sure what on earth you are comparing a poster's contributions to his) he has more than undone and he is never going to stop. What is he doing for the world other than trying to sew chaos?

The BCH chain hasn't been tested/stressed because nobody GAF about it. Let's see what happens when it is. Oooops, it won't be.

"If a tree falls in a forest"...that is BCH.

Haha, even now my eyes would rather glance at Bitcoin Cash than Bitcoin. Since it is clear, the odds of rising Bitcoin cash prices will be the same as the current Bitcoin price (this is my observation, not speculation). And we can see the amazing history of Bitcoin Cash, in just a few months.

Bitcoin cash is a joke. Centralized coin control. The only reason is has any value is those who wish to buy S9 are forced to buy via BCH. One place holds most the coins so cost is high. Just another bad play by bitmain.

Will see in 1-2 years where BCH takes , right now it's really hard to say as all the market is very volatile.
