I found out about this Coin a week ago and I've already invested in it.
Will summarize my research about Publica (PBL) in the below paragraphs.

Marc Kenigsberg ( Publica’'s advisor) says "The Publica platform is going to enable a lot of positive change for many people around the world". Publica is all about giving the authors and booksellers the ability to sell e-books themselves in easy manner by using the tools that Publica Protocol/platform will provide. At the same time gives the buyers/readers the freedom to read whatever book they like without any restrictions and within reasonable price.

I will summarize the advantages that authors and readers will have using Publica Platform for e-books.

What might attract authors to Publica is:
1) Publica insure immediate direct payments between buyers/readers and sellers/authors.
2) Transparent sales ledgers. Which means that the buyers can see the number of book sales which will benefit the authors at the end.
3) Publica will free the publication of the book, whereas there is no boundaries or barriers which might prevent spread of the book.
4) Publica has strong resistance to censorship and tampering.
5) the authors have direct control on what to Publish and at what price.

What might attract readers to Publica is:
1)Low prices, whereas the buyers will pay directly to the author with no fees to any other third party (agency, book publisher etc.)
2)Irrevocable ownership. Which is mean that when you buy the book you will be the owner of it, and that ownership can't be manipulated ever.
3)Because you are the ownership of the book, you can resell it or give it to someone.
4)The buyer/reader will know about any Crowdfunding that the author is running for his next book/project and then he can participate.
5)Publica Protocol supports paper books. So, when there is a demand for a paper book (instead of e-book) Publica Protocol will make sure that the book will be printed on that same region/place (where the paper book been ordered). That will eliminate shipping and storing.

The Team of Publica is really a decent one (check the website https://publica.io/). Each individual has years of successful experiences in his own filed (check their LinkedIn - all provided-).
You will find people from different sectors though: digital media, digital publishing, Data Analysis, marketing, financial , University's Professors etc.). This diversity of background and skills, all related and needed in this new technology -Blockchain technology.

More to come in 2018/Q1: a lot of people/investors like to focus in short/medium term, therefore, I will focus on Publica roadmap for 2018/Q1. Publica will draw and design the structure of their Protocol and at the same time they will communicate their Protocol, values and vision to wider audience through webinars, banners sets and videos. In Parallel, they will collate the feedback from their community in regards the product and their vision. The most excited part is the Reader app-wallet prototype the web version, which plan to be in March 2018. So, by end of March/2018 Publica will has Protocol, marketing campaign and the Reader app- wallet & web version.

My own opinion:

I can see that Publica has already found a good foundation for itself. The team are incredible and looks promising. The idea of giving the author direct interface to buyers (without agency/middleman) is brilliant. The author will set the price himself and the buyer will pay exactly the amount with no extra fees.

Publica's Team are really 100% committed to this project. The big evidence is that the tokens related to Publica team which are 20% of the whole tokens supply will be away and locked for 5years. That gives us an indicator that the team are here to develop and deliver their promises.

Talking about Publica tokens supply, if 20% of the tokens are locked for 5 years that means during the next 5 years the Max supply that Publica tokens can reach is 27Million (current circulating supply is 18.5 million). 27 Max supply for Publica tokens in Crypto World is insane specially for this kind of project.

My own estimate is the price of Publica might reach in 2018 to around 20$ - 25$. ICO price was 1 Publica = 0.1$. current price in market is 1 Publica = 0.5$ (so already x5). From here you can see the potential and the believers who are jumping in everyday to buy this token. With that steady growth and limited number of tokens supplied this investment can have 4.5/5 (medium/ long-term investment).

Publica looks like a cool project alright.

Another content-based project I like is called Narrative (https://www.narrative.network).  They have not had their ICO yet though.  Be interesting to compare them with publica.  Looks like pubica is more book-focused whereas Narrative is more of a social network. I like the 'economy' structure in Narrative too.

Support for printed books for publica is cool.

I have checked Narrative, and as you said it seems that its focus on a social network somehow. also, their goals to achieve (based on their roadmap) is far away (late 2018).

but anyway, thank you for your thoughts Smiley .

X-posting my ques from ANN thread -

======================================================

If I understand your project correct, the main advantage of other e-book for customers are the revocable access, ability to resell. From author perspective no censorship and no centralized company controlling the material.

My question is -
Isn't the revocable access and ability to resell are not actually a technical limitation but more of a company's operating business model. What if the concern companies open up the avenue down the line bowing down to the competition?

Definitely an interesting idea, but this idea looks novel not due to the current technical limitation which gets resolved through BlockChain

Your thoughts please...!
