There are still many problems in crypto:

- This year we had many HARD FORKS.
- high transaction costs ($40,- btc)
- transaction speed
- realy decentralized? Who are the big players, who decides the hard forks..
- almost all crypto needs to be payed with btc
- ICO’s - to much greedy and some good projects

We arent there yet. But these problems wil be solved  Grin
Maybe in 2018..

There are a lot of problems to be solved  as the bitcoin network is still new, we have been here for only 7 years, and only at the last months we started to have problems with traffic.
A large amount of people heard about bitcoin and now are  part of the network, which makes the network to be flooded with transactions that it can't process.

Hopefully, Lightning network may reduce the transaction fees.
It should go live at 2018, let's hope it really happens.

About the decentralized, bitcoin will never be decentralized as there are large amount of people who purchased it for cents and now 10 people own about 40% of the bitcoins, and they can decide what happens with bitcoin.

I still think the main problem with crypto is the exchanges. The community still needs a solid and trustworthy decentralized exchange. There were so many hacks on exchanges this year, and people still have to use the same exchanges even if they were hacked because not all coins are available on an exchange.

What is wrong with forks? people already started to ignore the forks. It doesnt affect so much.
There are so many altcoins with nearly zero transaction fees. And also faster like waves.
But it is correct that we arent there yet. 2018 will be much better for crypto coins  Smiley

Do you really consider "Who are the big players?" and "Who decides the hard forks?" a problem? Because I don't think these two should be considered as problems.

As long as people are still thinking to earn fast money from the fork and various ways and it will not believe if that will be solved asap. Those are waiting for fork coins and they don't care if that will become shit, scam or whatever they called it. People in these days are thinking about money and money. Money is everything.

Nice observations you have there. These are all true and I share the demand or the hope that all these very significant issues be resolved as soon as possible, hopefully withing the year 2018. The trust of the people are not without bases. They are trusting and investing into cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin because of the advantages they are giving them. But once the disadvantages will prove to be much heavier and giving them more hassles, these same individuals will pull out their support from crypto. And that is not good to all of us.

we all hope that all will be resolved soon. but that must be resolved is the speed of transactions that make many users upset even disappointed. transactions that take a long time and cost a fortune, this is my reason for not using btc nowadays.

The transaction speed is one thing that most projects stumble with.

I think that most developers need to work with the timing of their updates, some state that they will get something at a certain time and they don't.

Hmm. I would say Hard Forks are not actually a problem in crypto, it is only an issue with Bitcoin because a lot of greedy devs want to launch their own Bitcoin-based alt for instant money. Otherwise, hard forking is necessary sometimes. If I am not mistaken Bitcoin did it once already many years back, and Ethereum did it to save their funds from hackers.

In fact, all your problems mentioned are not problems, they are design characteristics. Even if Bitcoin had 1 user, he still has a 10 minute confirmation time.

Centralization yes, that is a problem, but not for everyone. Ethereum and Iota and Ripple for example, all their users love the centralization of their coins.

ICOs are just like new companies not everything gets successfull. And yes everything is still at the beginning, but I think time after time people will bring up new ideas to make cryptos even better in every aspect.

Any hope that the high transaction cost with Bitcoin will go down soon?

This is a serious flaw with Bitcoin now.. Lightning will fix this?

i am a bit scared, everyday purchases new coins, that all aim to be the new and better cryptocurrency, get hyped and their price rises fast....nevertheless their true value is uncertain and unknown.....looking at the total cryptocurrency market, personally i think that is not the best sign......we arent there yet...i agree with that......

I really don't like the fact that BTC is used as the base crypto. Why should we have to buy BTC when we want other cryptos? BTC is way too expensive and slow. Exchanges should make more trading pairs available for all coins.
