Don't worry, keep your wallet.dat file.   And im sure there will be crypto collectors in 20 years time just looking to buy your wallet.dat file and revive the network with just a mobile phone.  The more crap the coin and the quicker it fails, the more it will be worth.

Year 2033, your 10000 Twatcoins are now worth 100 BTC which is now worth $10,000,000   Cheesy

Yes, it was just a tad of an optimistic prediction.. Wink  however....

Im just making the point that if your coin flopps out, it's not the end of the world.  There is a ray of hope.

Just look at BQC. Keep mining it quietly and gather lots of coins, then resurrect it, maybe release a new client version with checkpoints and stuff and get it on an exchange.  Cheesy

Alongside BBQcoin people were also quietly CPU-mining Tenebrix and Fairbrix, they are getting closer to waking up again now as there seems to be at least one person using a GPU on them lately, when the GPUs came back to BBQcoin that was what got it woken back up... There still might be time to stock up on Tenebrix and Fairbrix before they hit the exchanges though...

Do either of these have a compiled windows QT for people to download?  If not I think it would be hard for them to gain traction again.

Yes, but in 2033, $10,000,000 will only be worth $5,500,000.  Assuming an average 3% inflation.

Well one probably doesn't want them to gain traction until after one has mined a bunch of them, presumably? So lack of such binaries merely means there is a little more time yet in which to mine them before the masses arrive... Make binaries whenever you have enough that you will welcome the arrival of the masses...

This is an interesting idea.  Can't say that this will be true for most coins, since if you really knew what you were doing, you could fork and clone your own coin in 4-6 hours.  That's why there are so many of them.

Still, I think the coins that could be worth some money in 10-20 years are the ones that had some form of innovation but never took off.  Tenebrix, as mentioned, was a good example.

Wasn't tenebrix the first scrypt coin?  I certainly know it wasn't litecoin.

A Personal Quote on BTT from 2011:
"I'd be willing to make a moderate "investment" if the value of the BTC went below $2.00.  Otherwise I'll just have to live with my 5 BTC and be happy. :/"  ...sigh.  If only I knew.

Only problem is that by 2033, there will be a few billion failed coins at this rate. There will always be new poop.
