Anyone thinking of sending money from Coinbase may want to wait as it appears they are bogged down. I had no problems the last few days but a few hours ago I sent some money over to Binance and a 2nd amount about 45 minutes ago and both transactions remain pending at CB but no record of receiving it by Binance.

I'm sure there's nothing to be concerned about and it will all be there by morning but just letting everyone know ahead of time if you are the worrisome or anxious type...like me Smiley

I don't think this is a problem with Coinbase or Binance, it's congestion with the bitcoin network and the only two thing you can do is to either wait and see what happens, or to use a tx accelerator (an example is viabtc) to speed up he transcation, though this is going to end up in waiting as well -- juse less time waiting.

Could you post your tx here?

check those transactions using their ID in a block explorer to see what their status are. there is a lot of different possibilities which i can't say which one is the problem without seeing the transaction ID.

- maybe Coinbase never broadcast those transactions
- maybe Coinbase did that but the fees were low or they had unconfirmed parents so some nodes are rejecting them so binance doesn't see it
- maybe Coinbase did that and they are even confirmed but binance node is behind or their system has not yet updated your balance.

out of curiosity why are you sending multiple transactions with short intervals? just make one transaction, you will save on fees and also don't spam the network Tongue

I see that being asked a lot but  don't know where to access that information as the only thing that coinbase ever gives me is a simple status saying pending. The only other thing I have is the actual address that Binance gave me to deposit the funds into?  Now I'm using the mobile app I guess is there a way for me to go to the main Coinbase site  and get more information?!  I will be checking now to see at CB Smiley

Is it OK for me to post an address where I sent it to or that risk getting hacked?  And this having to wait five minutes between postkng is irritating!!!!!

Oh wow!!!  Yes the main website that's what I have been missing all this time!!!  Mobile app doesn't show that and that's all I ever use Smiley

It shows it as being received with the six confirmations!  But hasn't been sent yet

Hey moderators give me a break PLEASE, this five minutes between posting makes me very frustrated!

Because I have always been warned NOT to send a lot of money at once and to always send smaller amounts in cases of an issue like now Smiley  so instead of sending 8 coins I sent 2 2 2 2.  But I thought it was a fee (percentage) that was based upon the amount and not a transaction fee so it would be the same?Huh Guess not Sad

And also because the first one got hung up I was anxious to hurry and buy at a certain price and thought maybe a second one would go faster?

I learned that on Binance.  Sometimes it would go under open orders and sit there forever and I learned that if I just immediately cancel and buy again it would go through instantly.  Was wondering if it was the same situation Smiley

I just realize that all that information I Saw had nothing to do with that transaction but was all the information for that address!  Sorry everyone I'm new at this.

What information do I need off of blockcipher to post here?

Huh I'll have to give a withdrawal a shot and see what happens. It's probably just the freaking mempool that's been filled forever. God damn there needs to be a better solution soon.

it is your low rank that is preventing you from posting any faster. besides you can answer everything in one comment instead of multiple

well that makes sense,... somewhat.
but it usually is the first time to check to see if things are ok, for example when you first check the platform not always.

Coinbase is a little weird and it is not exactly a bitcoin wallet, it is more like bitcoin account so they set the fees. but i still believe that they take a fixed amount regardless of how much you are sending.

and for a bitcoin transaction (you know in case you used a real bitcoin wallet) the fee is always based on the size in bytes not the amount.

What information do I need off of blockcipher to post here?

you don't need to post it here if you like to keep your privacy. just check your Coinbase account, they must have given you some "transaction IDs" which is a hexadecimal string like this:
d68ec88ea29e4a9fd789212bedfd0848acb704dfa1beb4c76a7cff6f23e75368
use those in a blockexplorer (blockchain.info or blockcypher or ...) to see if they are  confirmed and how many confirmation they have.

I don't care about privacy I just want to know if anybody can hack me or get into my account if I post the address here?   That a possibility? I would love to post the information here and have somebody assist me because I'm trying to learn about the stuff myself and this is how one learns Smiley

I will check now for the information you want and post it back here.  It shows an imbedded widget code is that the same thing?

Because I don't see anything. If I go to Coinbase and touch the address it takes me to blockcypher which then reveals a list of everything I have done associated with that address but I don't see the two that are pending

Think I found it I'll post ID shortly.  If I edit and keep updating within this same post I don't have to wait five minutes Lol!  I just discovered a workaround!

The only time a transaction ID is displayed is once it has been confirmed. According to my research just now coinbase will not reveal a transaction ID when pending???  In short I don't see any way to provide any more information other than the fact that it shows pending in CB!

By some miracle, after making these posts all of a sudden I picked up one confirmation on the original one that I did it at 4 o'clock this afternoon!  So I have some activity now at least Smiley

Ok.  Maybe me dancing around trying to find some transaction ID's or even the postings here may have woke up the Gods of Bitcoin cuz it finally appeared in Binance and it's being confirmed. And a few minutes after the old one got confirmed the second more recent one was confirmed right behind it, so they did both at the same time, which is important to note because they were placed five hours apart.

So it appears that they are going from "account to account" and not necessarily in order from when they were sent in a "first come first serve" order.  I find that interesting Smiley

But for the future, how is somebody supposed to trace a transaction when the only information Coinbase will give me is its pending?

Looks like after it receives its FIRST confirmation does a transaction detail & info appear.  Until that point you are just dead on the water.

You're assuming this is the only thread I am commenting on, but when you have multiple posts and you're going back-and-forth trust me, it can be extremely frustrating and honestly this is the only website I have ever been on in my life that imposes such a thing so I'm not really sure what the purpose of it is?

Probably so some new guy doesn't come on here and start posting profanities everywhere I guess. But I think I have started enough threads and made enough posts by now for them to rule out the "psycho variable" LOL
