Connection problems with guiminer script when trying to mine litecoin

Ive set up guiminer script to start cpu mining litecoin and everything works well, except I can not get past the connection problems that occur, I would like to fix this very much, any help is greatly appreciated

Unzip using 7zip or WinRar, somehow many files of cgminer don't get extracted properly by the windows unzipper.

I used winrar. and installed the amd sdk to have the guiminer function.

Well then it must be your settings. 
Maybe stratum? Wrong username/pass? Pool or solo?

I am using pool, I have been using stratum, the password and username of the worker is correct, Is portforwarding a problem?

Have you tried mining other coins? Can you post a screenshot of the GUI interface, or at least all of your current settings; minus your name and password?

check your flags. wrong space or extra space anywhere will spit connection problems instantly. in addition to a screenie of your settings, paste the text of the console here, too.
