From Slashdot...

http://idle.slashdot.org/story/11/07/07/0326213/Lawyer-Attempts-To-Trademark-Bitcoin?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Slashdot%2Fslashdot+%28Slashdot%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher

A lawyer named Michael Pascazi filed the trademark application.  His website looks like it was put together by a two-year-old.

http://pascazilaw.com/

EDIT: Here's a little blurb/press release? he put out -

http://www.pascazilaw.com/files/New_Coin_of_the_Realm_062311.pdf

EDIT: Removed - see below edit.

EDIT:  Above edit wasn't the right Magellan.  As pointed out by Isepick below " The "Magellan Capital Advisors, LLC" on the trademark app is registered to the same exact address the law office is, in Fishkill, NY. This is a one man operation."

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

EDIT:  And it appears that Magellan Capital Advisors is his client for this, based on the above document, but I could be wrong.  Their website - http://www.magellanadvisor.com/ - isn't as bad as his.  They are based in Australia.
LMAO I can code better than the person who made that site!
PS: I can't even code!

Forget the DMCA, I'm waiting for his nice $250k fine for lying on the trademark application form.

Wrong Magellan Advisors. The "Magellan Capital Advisors, LLC" on the trademark app is registered to the same exact address the law office is, in Fishkill, NY. This is a one man operation.

Somebody should send him Colbert's clip regarding hornets' nests Wink

I would like to give official notice that I plan to intentionally and wantonly violate and infringe on this trademark as soon as possible, and as often as possible.

I encourage everyone to do the same.

Oops, I stand corrected.  I wonder which 'Magellan' was trademarked first?

Does anyone have an idea whether this lawyer filed this for himself (perhaps he's a bitcoin speculator) or on behalf of a client?

In his blurb about Bitcoins he talks about them in an obviously pre-existing manner.  How can he possibly think he can Trademark the term?

Can you please find a reference to this remedy, so far only risk I can find is just the registration not being accepted.
