Faircoin Conversion

Does anyone know how I can get an old Faircoin wallet.dat backup to the new Faircoin wallet?  I lost the old wallet but have a backup of the wallet.dat.  My understanding is that I need the old wallet to transfer the old coins to the new wallet.  I can't find the old wallet anywhere so I'm hoping someone may have another solution.  Thanks.
