Why is Electrum so slow?

About 16 hours ago I transferred Bitcoins to some of my online accounts, but it still hasn't transferred, nor do I have a single confirmation.

Any way I can speed up this process?

Its not electrum problem you should use the default fee given from bitcoinfees.. if you use the default fee from https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/
You transaction could be confirm in few minutes or hour.
Can you give me your transaction ID or TXID so that i can check if your transaction is low fee that is why you are having delayed transaction..

Any way I can speed up this process?

1. RBF - If you had this option (Replace By Fee) enabled prior to sending the transaction, you can increase the transaction fee.

2. CPFP - If the transaction you sent, had a change output (another output aside from the one you intended to send), you can use this option (Child Pays For Parent). In simple words, you have to pay a high fee that covers both transactions.

3. Use transaction accelerators:

1. Antpool's accelerator: https://www.antpool.com/user/prioritiseTransaction.htm?m=savePrioritiseTx   (Users have to create an account first, then everything it's completely free)
2. ViaBTC's accelerator: https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ (Minimum fee of 0.0001BTC/KB is required, limited tx's on hourly basis and no registration needed for their free accelerator)

Aside from the above accelerators, there are paid ones as well (ViaBTC has a paid version too, in case it's urgent).

Compare the fee you used with the values listed here:

If your fee is less than the recommended fees, then that's the likely reason your transaction is not confirming. Follow SFR10's suggested options.
