There are many projects out there, some of them very open source, fast, private, etc... But as user of cryptos... what would you require from a coin? Let´s give some ideas just in case someone out there is listening Wink

For me:
- Very low fee
- Fast speed.

Edited with suggestions from this thread (thanks)

- Good interface for a wallet.
- Security
- Stable price.

- Very limited supply (around 2-20 million max)
- Good support.
- Algorithms with CPU mining or at least CPU/GPU no ASICS.

- The price movement allows for profit.

- Decentralised (i.e. not Ripple)

- Great management and developing team.
- Open source code.
- Solid and reliable whitepaper.
- High market cap and daily high trading volume.

Anything else?

Expect bitcoins almost all the crypto currencies will have cheap fees bro. Even ethereum fees also around the 10 cents for an transaction. So you no need to check when you are planning to invest on altcoins.
Those coins have chosen according to the rank, supply, demand and future value.
As of everyone investing on the ripple but don't do that it will dump back lower than 1 USD.

Very limited supply (around 2-20 million max) good support and nice interface.
Also looking for algorithms which allow only cpu mining or at least cpu/gpu no asics.

Judging the coin with the character and all will not work to make the money buddy. We have to get the more information like what is complete future focus of this project and need to note that project is belongs to blockchain related.
Some new initiation comes to the market with the blockchain integration buddy but those kind of project get succeeded sometime but not all the time so check project information before invest on it.

When it comes to Ripple I don't really fully trust this coin though. Centralized stuff and just being hyped up this is why we do see its price is now on peak and even surpassed ETH on rankings but not a strong indications for me to invest such thing. Talking back on important features then most people would really do seek out for very low fee and fast speed which we can almost see on most coins in the market. They are aiming that stuff because most people would really always prefer those kind of coins.

Oh, well, I agree that most of the alts are cheap to transfer, but Ethereum does occasionally have high fees. Just remember the crisis of the CryptoKitties, with thousands of pending transactions and gas fees of 80 wei and so on... What about other characteristics such as supply, inflation rate, nodes, utility...

Oh, sure. I would not even consider ripple to be in the same market with the rest, it is very different and as you well said too centralised both in technical and political terms. I think is one of the worst currencies out there.

What about privacy or compliance? Would you rather have pure private transactions like DeepOnion or quite protected ones like Monero or be quite open like most of the alts out there? What other technical or economic parameters would define your best coins?

The same, I prefer altcoins to Bitcoin.

They're faster in transactions and are pretty good  for small payments, more flexible and useful in trading.

I love trading with Bitcoin with a hope of great income. It's much better just hodling it then selling.

My Ideal coin should have a great management and developing team, should have an open source code and a solid and reliable whitepaper. Basically I love a coin with a very high market cap and daily high trading volume.

If I want to invest on a coin I will looks for their price chart over history if their is more upwars than downwards then it is a good coin to invest on and I will always look fr the long term investment on crypto currency. And it is not good to invest on a coin that price is increasing rapidly because if a coin rises too fast then for sure the price will dump so you can get that coins at the dump.
But now every altcoin transaction fee is very cheaper so it is not a good idea to pick up a coin based on the characteristics you quoted above.
