Cloudcoin is more than a week old alternate currency. It uses scrypt and a proof-of-work, proof-of-stake scheme.

The Proof-of-Stake implementation allows coin holders to get interest for their coins. The math is simple if you hold more coins you get more interest on them all the time. This scheme not only makes the coin more profitable and long living but also helps defend the coin against 51% attacks whick makes the coin secure.
Coin:
The coin has a limited 100 million coin supply, whick is an ideal number for a crypto curreny. It has a 1 minute block time that makes the transactions fast, secure and smooth. The difficulty retarget after every block, which prevents the coin to rapidly raise in difficulty. Mining is also fun since we implemented besides the regular blocks super blocks as well. The coin based on its parameters is perfect to become an online currency that can be used on merchandise sites, casino sites and a lot more.
Mining Development:
We have just released a new client that fixes small bugs and add more checkpoints. In the wallet you can send a text message with the transaction. As time goes on we will keep releasing updates if we see it necessary.

To make Cloudcoin transactions more widespread we will announce an online wallet. This will help Cloudcoin to reach every single person. We are also working hard on exchange implementation in order to establish a value for Cloudcoin. After we achieve this goal we will be able to work on more futures for the coin.

We are not intend to make a coin just for mining. Although mining is an easy way to get a bite of the currency and the proof-of-stake scheme allow this little bite to grow as time goes on. We intend to make Cloudcoin the only currency that is used for online purchases all aroud the globe.
