You can view the performance of the coin through the website coinmarketcap.com you can see there the history of the coin and how it performed for the past few days. BTC is still considered as the best and secure to invest in cryptocurrency.

Do your own research on any coin before investing and ensure you understand the reasons why you should be investing

as a beginner you should start with the most secure coin which everyone knows about. a beginner actually only hears about bitcoin and then hears about altcoins.

first learn about bitcoin, see how it works. learn the basics such as wallets, transactions, fees, security, cold storage,... then know that there are "alternatives" to bitcoin you can also check out but only later.

I do not recommend beginners to invest in altcoins. It is always risky. You can buy bitcoin. Now his price has long been at the bottom so you have large prospects to earn money. Bitcoin always allows you to make small mistakes in investing. Only when you spend many hours on the exchanges and understand the mechanism of formation of the prices of altcoins you can start investing in them.

Bitcoin is the best ever crypto currency to invest so it is better to start with that, altcoins prices are highly unpredictable so it is better to gain crypto knowledge with bitcoins then you can buy more coins with the profits from bitcoins.

Hi,

What do you know exactly about bitcoin? Why do you want to invest? Now is not a very good time for very short-term profits...

If you want to invest juste for a short-sighted profit, then you should invest only in one currency. Just chose one which has relatively low rates and wait for it to increase a bit. Don't wait too long and don't expect terrific profits.

If you are rather long-term thinking, then the question is much more difficult to answer. What do you wanna do exactly?

Anyway, always remember 1 thing: only buy what you can afford to lose!

Correct only buy what you can afford to lose, although investing in cryptocurrency is very profitable it is also considered as much riskier than investing on stocks and real estate.
