Its all speculation my friend, the most plausible reason are probably the uncertainty in South Korea and the Chinese governments clamp down on exchanges and regularity pressure in those regions.

The latest to spook investors and traders seems to be the high possibility that the Korean government will ban the trading of cryptocurrencies. Many Koreans however are petitioning the government not to. I think this will be start of regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges.

I just checked January 2016 and 2017. You are right on the money, there's a big dip in the first 2 weeks of January and BTC recovers in the 3rd week  up to February. Thanks for the info, I feel much better now knowing that.

Actually this dump is not because of china , china do nothing about this . I still confused about this dump , maybe because of  Korea . I heard that Korea will close the exchange platforms likes china’s action at the September. Anyhow, this is not good news . But I still believe deepOnion , don’t be scare about this , everything is not too bad .

@djpitagora is correct it was in December of 2014 that it had the dip but yes everyone is taking a bit out for new years gifts etc.

Plus there is still FUD and old news about Korea. Their government had a press interview the other day and said they were not banning bitcoin but some press are still talking about that
which i think has had some effect on the price of bitcoin but to me looks as if it is going to rebound.

Onions are holding up & doing very well and i have said it before that i would buy more but i am not able too which is frustrating.
