this project is indeed a very, very big opportunity for anonymous internet. because we have a lot of problems in shopping that we do on anonymous internet, our money is being tracked, even solving this problem is a success in itself
It is not only a problem for anonymous internet shopping... it is a problem for all currency movements. - All your payments and financial investments are traceable. Therefore, - If a competitor knows your limits, they may undermine your negotiations or they may outbid you. - Your transactions may be used against you in the future. Google and Facebook know everything about you... what you like and how much you are welling to pay... they use this information to target you with ads... I don't like that. yes its a true point, i never tought this way. yes you are right they know what i willing to pay for a product for a service or for a home, and may be they can calculate, what i willing to pay a ''stock'' in a big exchange, Technically there's nothing bad in presenting a user ads based on their personality and such. It's actually pretty smart, and in theory both parties benefit, because the user might find something they need. The real problems I guess is what else they can do with the information. If they can use it to manipulate you to vote for someone, and things like that. This is only one aspect of the problem, it can get more complicated than that. When companies need to maximize their profits they will be welling to pay for a list of all customers interested in something specific. Companies who deal with users will want to collect more information about users to attract more ad companies looking to target specific group of users with specific interest. We don't need to talk about the latest facebook issues regarding user privacy... or do we? There is a dark side to this matter also as you can be targeted for what you like. For example, if you are supporting someone who is despised by some group. This group might take an action against all supporters of this person to deter them. If they can obtain a list of those who supported the person they hate, they may target them or their families. This is a big issue regardless of that person's interest whether good or bad. Another thing to take notice are permanent information. It may be difficult to change your name and address to run away from something, but some things are impossible to change like your date of birth, blood type, mother's maiden name ...etc. These things when stored can identify you forever. We don't really feel the pressure because we feel secure, only those that are being targeted with their information compromised feel threatened. One more thing I like to tell those who claim that they have nothing to hide... send me your email password and I promise not to tell anyone what I find in there  Well, I pretty much agree with everything you said. What I basically was trying to say that targeting someone to show them ads is actually benign, that the real issue are all those other things that people don't consider. |
