I'm about to go with godaddy for my new site im working on. But I have never built a REAL site with them. How would I host it there? Would I need a designer?

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Do you have $25,001 you don't need?  If so, I happen to know of an extremely rare domain name you could use...

Hi OP- might I recommend that you use Cinfu.com?

I just bought a domain from them but of course they do hosting and private servers as well. I used them because they accept Bitcoin... and the transaction was very easy. I have a few dozen domain names at GoDaddy... I've always used them, but I may just migrate them to a new host like Cinfu because they accept the good coin Smiley

I would not use GoDaddy for hosting a site; I've seen far too many reports of their service being unreliable and doing strange things to people's web apps. They do domains quite well, though.

Add another vote for do not use GoDaddy for hosting.   There are dedicated hosting providers so you can keep that separate from the domain buying itself.

Because you've obviously never had a critical service that relied heavily on website uptime. GoDaddy offers hosting for consumers. Whether it may be blogs, personal websites, they don't need that 99.99% uptime necessity. If you're going to host a Bitcoin service, go with AWS, Linode, Dreamhost, or the Rackspace Cloud. All of them have good SLAs and have excellent support (except for Amazon). They won't dump you off their service simply because you're using too many resources (Dreamhost might ask you to upgrade to a VPS).

GoDaddy is notorious for their horrible upselling techniques and overall junk (not sure about hosting), people just try to avoid them completely.

Was this for a specific site or all your sites?   I honestly wouldn't have a great answer, but if you give up that information the people who can answer this would be able to assist better.   I know depending on what kind of traffic you are serving up, ie if is media heavy, should go with certain types of hosting over others.

They don't give you root access, so you can't install the bitcoin daemon on it. You are at least going to have to cash out 20-50 a month.

Its the bitcoin client with no gui and runs in the background on Linux. You obviously have a lot to learn before you start making a Bitcoin service. Tongue

You don't have to have linux, but I recommend that whoever you choose for hosting does. GUI = Graphical User Interface. The bitcoin daemon is basically just bitcoin without graphics. Don't go for godaddy.
