Yes we use an API to retrieve information via websockets. You have to get the data from somewhere.
That's not called an "API", it's called "leeching".
Let's ask CoinCap and CodeCanyon if you wish?

Yes we use an API to retrieve information via websockets. You have to get the data from somewhere.

It's a publicly available API, with documentation and is intended for developer use.
