Bitcoins is the ancestor of CryptoCurrency. Illegality is now unimportant for Bitcoins. The important thing is that Bitcoins is now used as a CryptoCurrency circulation and asset allocation. Therefore, although each country's treatment of Bitcoins policy is different. But that doesn't affect Bitcoins!

It is not yet declared whether Bitcoin is legal or illegal in the country but may be they are trying to get certain regulations regarding bitcoin. If you follow the Indian news on Bitcoin, you will find even Indian celebrity has also made a lot money by investing on Bitcoin.

The indian government through their Reserve bank says that it has not issued any license or authorisation to any entity or company to operate such scheme or deal with bitcoin. That was last year,2017. However we don't know what will happen this year,2018.
