The challenge is that it's so interesting. Crypto is a little bit like a cult. It challenges the way the world works and it offers a much more compelling vision of a future. And once you grok that it's really hard to go back to accepting the lamestream wage-slave view of the world. I'm so much more interested in my financial future now as are many of the people I know who are into crypto. And I'm alot more educated about value, the economy etc. But balance is totally key so I make a point of getting away from the keyboard and exercising, hanging IRL with other folk etc. It's like anything, thing can be a passion when they're constructive and become addictive when they have a negative impact on your life. The fact that you're asking the question means you're probably self-aware enough to know where your boundaries are, and when to pull back.

Do you ever feel like you're overly obsessed with cryptocurrencies or trading/investing in general?
Personally, I'm fairly satisfied with my investments/decisions so far but yet I'm looking for market opportunities most of the time. I think that's mainly because of the fact that majority of my time browsing the internet I watch related content. I'm passionate quite passionate about it.

Over time it kinda makes me feel depressed that I don't make as much as I possibly could or others have better scores (some unhealthy jealousy I guess?), so this "paper-chasing" has become a target itself.

When I want to take a break from all this stuff for let's say a month or week at least then I'm not able to because I'm afraid that I will miss out on something.
On the one hand, I have made investments in projects I believe in so I could leave it for few months even and then back but at the other hand, I'm still not quite sure about my diversification so I keep watching the market.

Can anyone relate?

Yes. You are getting into the verge of becoming a day-trader Smiley And it is a good sign. Professionals in any field become experts only when they are overtly obsessed. The same is happening with you and with many people in our eco-system. This is the fundamental quality required to become successful in life in any field and you are on the right track.

You may be employed in another field but your sheer obsession will draw you towards crypto-market and make you trade. That is your real passion and I must say that you will find yourself a successful day-trader of cryptocurrencies in the near future. What drives men to do things which others call 'wonder' is simply this passion.

Self-motivation is a great gift. I am getting philosophical but I am deeply impressed with your post. One thing I wish to say is that you will not miss-out on anything in life because success comes like a flash of lightening. When success comes, all the failures and misery of the past are put to an end in one stroke. It is like bringing light into a cave that was dark for thousands of years.

So if you become a pro and take a small break well, it is perfectly fine. For what are you earning but for life to be happy and easy. So spending some time away from all the work including your passion is quite fine. You are writing a success story.

Because crypto made trading so easy for every user to do it became a problem for those who are getting easy addicted by activities that prommise easy money.
Those who have gambling addiction might develop an addiction with trading because is is a fine line betweeen the two. I advice those who know to have this kind of problems to stay away from crypto or assign someone to manage theyr portofolio because it could wuin them.

I have a friend who got over his gambling addiction after loosing all the money, car, house and famlily. He was clean for 3 year and the got into crypto trading. This was a slope that got him to gamble again and invest money he can not afford. The difference is that now the admited he has a problem and is getting treatment for this.

So my advice is to be very carrefull about this game. Dont let it ruin your life and dont be ashamed to get help.

Well, who would not be? After all these opportunities that abounds, any one will want to stick here, get addicted or whatever anyone may call it. I totally relate with what the OP is implying, as sometimes, I really do not care about the outside world anymore, and I see the crypto world as a solace or more like the life saving opportunity to build the future which makes one stay in the most, keep searching and investing and then seeing that you spend most of your time doing this than other things. Call it addiction, but as long as I am addicted to the future, I am fine.

The adrenaline, the quick movements, the large increase and decreases within minutes make crypto a gamblers paradise.

It's easy to trade, extremely hard to lock your coins in cold storage and go do something else.

I think trading can become an addiction, crypto is especially addictive due to it's volatile nature.

I guess everyone has already known this feeling Wink That's why I am more a holder than a trader. I am pretty obsessed when I start trading and it's more toxic than a good thing for me I think.

There is a certain level of addiction in cryptocurrency whenever you are totally hooked up with it already. But this is not just in crypto. Whenever a certain person has already developed a high level of passion in everything that he does, the tendency is that you will become so much attached to it that you will find yourself hard to get out from it. Like me, I cannot easily get my eyes away from coin prices and from the updates coming from this forum and my coins' social media account.

Not only just on cryptocurrencies but all the things that are on excess or do already make it as a hobby and been focused too much of all of your time can really be considered as an addiction and even myself can be considered to be on this state because ive been watching prices all of the time specially on the coins that I'm holding and I'm sure lots of people do feel the same on this crypto craze. I also noticed that mate. It's likely playing online games and you want to level up immediately so that it will become stronger.Perhaps we were just too much greedy to earned instantly with bitcoins so that we will have money on hand. And we did not noticed that we are already addictive to this coin because we don't want to missed every single details about bitcoins.

I really feel the same way too.My day won't be complete without checking updates on the cryptos that i had invested particularly on its price whether it goes up or down again.Maybe this is just a usual scenario for all of us holders or investors because we want to be updated on all its movement so we can maximize our profit at all times.

Gambling is a total different ball game and anyone in this sort of environment looking for money, is definitely not making the right call, because they will never find it. However, when relating what the OP said to general investment, the idea of making use of every opportunity, waking up every day and expecting something new all makes it ball down to the fact that we all want to be part of an existing future.

The truth is that no one wants to miss out, and even if I find myself in the crypto investment world a huge percentage of the time, I will only count it as being smart and not addicted.

I do not know if we can call it an addiction but i think generally when it comes to money people are quite attached to it. Since all of us here in the forum are invested in crypto( in any form of way like mining, trading etc.) It is essential for us to check the prices at least once a week. This is my secondary source of income and for some their primary income i can not blame them to look closely on what happening in the market, we all need to eat.  Grin

I will not say that it can be called drug addiction, but it's damn interesting to me personally. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the fact that a person is interested in this. I used to be fascinated by other things. In any business, one must always keep to common sense. And then everything will be fine.

One thing about it is like, once you are in this world, is always like you keep wanting more and that makes you stuck to the world with the basic mindset of trying to have it all and also have the best of your time in the crypto world. A lot of people have and are making it huge, some are taking the whole advantage of all that is on board to take advantage of, and knowing that you can also be a part makes you to keep doing your best without anything pulling you back. Once you taste it, which is it. More like the forbidden fruit, if you know what I mean.

It really a pure reflection. I would not really count it as an addiction, but rather see it as trying to pursue something or a goal which you have been deprived off over some years now and if you do not take those opportunities now when the day is still young, it may be hard to catch up when the night falls. That is how I see it anyway, and that makes me to always want to do more with my investment, look for more ideas I can settle with and make more for the future.
