I can view my BCH on my ledger (strangely, I have to have the bitcoin ledger app selected on the device, NOT the bitcoin cash one) using the Chrome bitcoin/cash/gold chrome app.

When I try to send, I get the error message: Sending failed. An error occurred. Please try again later.

Overall I'm not a big fan of the ledger Chrome apps, I prefer connecting with electrum or something but that doesn't work for BCH.

Any ideas how I can shift my coins?

Thanks,

You will need to download and enable the Bitcoin Cash app in your Ledger Manager. You can't spend them from your Bitcoin app.

Electron Cash will support Ledger in it's upcoming release[1]. But for now, you will probably need to use the Chrome app for that.

I can view my BCH on my ledger (strangely, I have to have the bitcoin ledger app selected on the device, NOT the bitcoin cash one) using the Chrome bitcoin/cash/gold chrome app.

Since BTC and BCH share the same instance of the chrome application you can access(viewing history/recieve-tab, not sending/signing messages) both chains,
but only interact (signing message/transactions) with the chain corresponding to your app opened on the nano s. This does not apply to BTG (having it's own instance).

When I try to send, I get the error message: Sending failed. An error occurred. Please try again later.

This most certainly is the case because you didn't open the BCH app on your nano s, there not having any permission to sign messages/tx's.
Open the ledger manager application and download the BCH app onto your nano s.
It also might be possible that 1) the ledger service is under heavy load, not being able to answer everyones query or 2) a firewall (or any other program) on your PC is currently blocking the connection to the ledger server.

Note: You can always uninstall/reinstall applications if you'r nano s is out of memory. Your coins won't get lost. After reinstalling an app again you immediately have access to all af your accounts/coins.

RESOLVED

Thanks for the replies, guys. To clarify, I did have the BCH ledger app installed (on the ledger device), but the BTC/BCH chrome extension wouldn't open when I had the BCH ledger app engaged. It would, however, open when I had the BTC app engaged.

But, based on what you said, I uninstalled the BCH ledger app and one other app, then reinstalled the BCH ledger app. After this, the BTC/BCH chrome extension would open when I had BCH engaged on the Ledger, and I was able to send.

Thanks for the help,
