So, I can move it to GDAX...and I can move it to a hard wallet. Exactly how many hoops will I be jumping through here? What wallets handle NEO?

You have BTC on Coinbase...you do not need to move it to GDAX first.

Here's the list of exchanges that deal NEO: https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/neo/markets/BTC

Choose anyone of these exchanges that support NEO. Use the reviews to help guide your decision. Register an account with the exchange of your choosing. Then send your Bitcoin on Coinbase to a Bitcoin wallet on this exchange. Then trade your exchange for NEO...then you have NEO!

Any questions?

Thank you!

It would be cheaper transaction cost though to move it to GDAX first. Do I have that right?

For storing NEO, GAS, as well as other coins on the NEO platform, you can create a purse by reference https://neo.org/download . To select an exchange, you have already been given a link above. Now there is a lot of ICO on this platform and to get the tokens you will simply need this purse.

Hey, indeed it is! I would recommend to use HitBTC,
If you want you can read this guide: https://cointutorials.wixsite.com/cointutorials/startseite/altcoins-how-to-buy-on-hitbtc
It explains how to transfer from coinbase to exchanges without fees, and how to buy on hitbtc!

You can send it to your wallet directly if your wallet is supported with neo.

You can look for trading platforms that allow you to trade in Neo / BTC pairs. You can also find the trading floor of the Neo here https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/neo/#markets After you select the trading platform, you can transfer bitcoin from the coin base to the trading platform and buy Neo.
