I was pretty sure other miners were able to run different cards in the same machine. For some reason, AOCLBF sees my 4870 but I'm getting 0kh/s. I thought CCC said something about not being able to load drivers or something but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

CCC shows the 4870 as a 'disabled' card. I'm guessing that's the issue but I'm not sure.

Are you running Windows by chance? If so, do you have dummy plugs on your cards? If you are on Windows, and don't have dummy plugs, this is high likely your problem.

Are you running Windows by chance? If so, do you have dummy plugs on your cards? If you are on Windows, and don't have dummy plugs, this is high likely your problem.
I don't. I don't even know what a dummy plug is. I'm going to guess that it'd trick the computer into thinking it was hooked up to a monitor. Where could I get one? Would a DVI>VGA converter work? Just looked it up. Nope, definitely don't have one. Definitely is my problem. I found one on Ebay for $20 or so. Is there anywhere else I could find one? Make one?

Yes, a dummy plug tricks the card into thinking a monitor is attached, and in turn tells windows to load the drivers. Without a monitor attached Windows just ignores the card. They are easy to make. If you don't have a VGA output on your cards, you will need a DVI->VGA adapter, but that alone will not do it. You also need some resisters. Run down to Radioshack (or any electronics/radio store) and pick up a pack of 68-ohm resistors. At Radioshack the part number is 271-1106, for a pack of 5. You will need 3 resistors per card. The instructors I followed are located at: http://www.overclock.net/folding-home-guides-tutorials/384733-30-second-dummy-plug.htmlAnd are pretty simple. Just plug the resistors into certain pins on the VGA port, and you're good. EDIT: yeah, $20 on ebay for 1 is insane. I'm assuming you have DVI->VGA adapters laying around, I know I did. If thats the case, you can make them for less than $2 total.

Yes, I just found out about this myself after recommending the resistors. However, on the bright side, these drivers are still labeled as "preview", so they're not 100% bug free and ready for prime time. IMHO, for what it's worth, I'd wait until they go GM before trusting them on my rig... but, that's just me

I would suggest selling the 4870 and replacing it w\ a 5770 or another 5830. Why not sell the 4870 and get another 5830?

I am running this same combination of 5830 and 4870 in a single machine and it does work just fine. You can get it to kind of work in windows without a dummy plug and just a single monitor. 1.) 4870 connected to monitor 2.) Start mining in AOCLBF with device "1" for client 1 3.) switch cable to 5830 4.) create 2nd client in AOCLBF which also points to device "1" and start mining Now its mining on both cards with just a single monitor. This isn't 100% reliable though and I eventually just plugged in a separate monitor for the 4870 and left it powered off.
