A lot of country are utilizing renewable energy these days so if one are mining bitcoin from renewable energy source, I don't see any issue with it. Fiat prints paper money, where does paper comes from? Cutting down forest is much worse. Even if you plant them back, it take a lot longer to grow them back.

I think our environment is now studied on what is really bitcoin is. Many people now, in our invironment benifited actually from bitcoin access. Many people also in our invironment doubt about bitcoin currency of what is really came the real source being funded, and who really the person gave the source of fund.

i think bitcoin mining is the safest mining because it just use electricity. and some miners use renewable electric like solar powered mining. that's not affected to environment. but just make noise polution because the soung of mining rig so loud.

There is actually an answer to the energy consumption problem, but I'm not sure if that can be implemented in Bitcoin's blockchain. The main issue is that mining BTC is based on proof-of-work consensus, which is heavily energy-dependent. Other emerging blockchains use other consensus mechanisms, such as practical or distributed byzantine fault-tolerance (DBFT or PBFT), which does note rely on proof-of-work.

Researcher does because they think of bane and boon the beneficial that brings to us and also the navigation of the system but in my own their is no environmental impact at all because it just an idea of people who brainstorm of what Bitoin is and how can we go on for higher range of currency. Maybe bitcoin consumes only electricity which is commonly used in technology.

Recently China Government announces its plan to shutdown mining activities in its countries. As we know, China is still the biggest miners in this world. And it does really consume pretty much amount of electricity the government produces.

Shutdown it as much as they want so they will become happy, it is a great news for those who wanted to enter mining since they will have the advantage to pursue it once China stops their mining industry, well, hope that they can do it since a lot of miners surrounds their country.

Increased electricity consumption in line with the development of bitcoin. Mining increased so that electricity demand also increased. But the development has no special relationship with the environment. Environmental impacts arise if new plants are built, let alone the generator that generates fossil waste.

Yes, it is now being argued that bitcoin is not worth using, that it consumes a lot of energy and that it is forbidden to do so.

As now, the prevalence of  cryptocurrency mining consumes a large amount of energy, have anyone considered resource wastage and environmental pollution issue? Shocked Shocked

Will the environmental issues attract the attention from government or environmental organizations, thereby limiting the mining activities?  Huh Huh

Why will government attract the anttention from this issue?
I dont think this is very big issue compare with what blockchain or bitcoin have done.

If the impact for the environment is definitely there is that will increase the volume of electronic waste especially in the future there will be many new coins that can also be mined.

What's with this environmental argument about bitcoin lately? Is this the new wave of FUD going around? We have to remember that there are lots of sources that hurt the environment specially companies that consumes large amount of energy. I agree that renewable energy source should be applied here, but don't single out bitcoin as kind of the biggest contributor of environment because the amount of electricity to mine bitcoin. Maybe miners should look for better options like solar panels and other sources, maybe they won't. I think they are really looking at other ways to tap other sources as well, however, I just find it funny though about how bitcoin is impacting the environment. This is the new set of arguments against bitcoin. LOL.

What a bunch of crap! China could care less about the environment than most countries in the world. Their over fishing practices, globally are destroying fish population and many plant and animal species are pushed to extinction, because of illegal smuggling of endangered species to meet their special culinary and medicinal demands. <Most of these has no scientific proof and are based on cultural beliefs>

https://www.livescience.com/27862-china-environmental-problems.html

I have to add that most mining are done with environment friendly resources, like Hydro power, which is a plus point for them. ^smile^

It can not be an excuse for the government to refuse bitcoin mining, you know gold, gold or anything else is a valuable item in the process of searching for it requires a lot of energy, time, and tools, even to sacrifice the earth's soil that is constantly excavated. If we look at the comparison definitely bitcoin mining is lighter.

There is biggest impact on environment due to Bitcoin mining and it is taking most of the electricity generated in the world to operate.

This is should be changed from PoW to PoS or other way and then we can protect our scarce resources.

PoS is a good alternative In my opinion Since you just need to own the cryptocurrency for a bit and you get interest in the form of more coins of that particular coin
