Rumours are out since bitcoin is there. I expect that more and more countries will change the taxes for crypto invest and make it equal to stock trading.

There will be some more regulations in 2018, but IMO they can't control crypto.

They can and will regulate cash out but its a cat and mouse game.
Once it becomes easier to cash out in altcoins or spend altcoins directly on goods it will become harder and harder for them.
Best HODL your coins until you buy what you need directly
If you do not cash out - at present - you do not pay tax

They will try to tax it to death and make it as complicated as possible.
In the US they already declared that when you're trading on crypto only pairs like BTC/ETH then it is a taxable event. Previously you only were taxed when sold crypto to fiat.

I'm predicting China/Korea/Japan will come out with not to harsh regulation in the coming months and prevent any crazy regulators from banning/destorying the crypto world. Because if they do, Asia will take the lead in this new economy and profit from worldwide investments, new jobs, additional tax income...
All will be good, not to concerned myself.

I hope not, but I think politicians will put a lot of taxes on the earnings that a person does with the trading .... I just hope that the governments prohibit the ICOs ... they are too many and every day a new one comes out

Some of them will try for sure.
Russia plan release crypto-rub and most probably will try to ban others.
When total market cap pass 1 trillion, you could expect even more mainstream media attacks against crypto and for regulation.

We just need to be careful and watch the situation.

Last year was when governments truly started talking about regulations for crypto. You'll be pleased to know that while some have looked like they're trying to restrict it, others like Japan have led the way in legitimizing crypto (starting with Bitcoin). China is restricting and so is South Korea but they haven't actually banned anything, they are just being careful about how to go with them. US and Europe are also tightening, but they don't want to ban it, how can they when it's simply too much out of control? It's ICOs really that need to worry, not crypto.

I am sure more governments will regulate trading in crypto and icos in the coming year. The USA already is prohibiting some companies from doing icos, Canada is looking at ICO regulation (kin coin is actually testing the new regulationsj. Exchanges will also be more regulated (south korea recently passed a law requiring exchanges to get more information from users and to prohibit anonymous accounts). I am also sure some totalitarian governments will try to prohibit people from owning crypto, but that would be difficult to enforce.

Maybe much nearer to truth than the previous years. More are noticing bitcoin and this could lead to more government noticing and regulating or banning bitcoin. Anyway, I think it is better if there are some kind of regulation for bitcoin and crypto in general.

Not here in the philippines only for those who have been victim of scam investments here. The government here are starting to analize the goods and benefits of cryptocurrency for the country purposes, they just warn people not to invest big because so many scammers are going out to make an investment scams to all newbies in crypto. Maybe this year cryptocurrency will be known in all sides of the country.

the government may not know too much about blockchain and other crypto technologies.

there must always be pros and cons, people who do not like crypto, they always attack and make bad issues about crypto and also the situation is aggravated by ico scam.

maybe we should make a petition to the government to have them review and examine the world of crypto, is it worth to legalize or not.

majority of cryptos are decentralized the possible thing about the government be able to steer the centralized exchange site. But it looks not possible for the decentralized exchange site. as far as I know that so many countries will have tried it. But we must waiting for the more update about that. But they will never regulate the crypto it's impossible

Its hard enough trying to find a crypto lawyer to ask questions to.  I can't forsee government intervention till they can figure out how to make a profit in attorney fees.

This is false. There is no fix way of regulating the whole crypto world. It's just a dream. All they can do is announcing some regulations like China did last summer. And actually, they don't need to forbid them. They should legalize them.
