what would be best to do. buy the 1080ti cards a little at a time or get something cheaper but more of?

If you want faster ROI, then get some cheaper but more of like 1070's, AMD RX570, 580's

Depends on a certain algo, this beast is best in Zec, but not much in other algo's, Nvidias are good or better for more algo's and don't need Bios modifications compared to AMD's however the pricing is lower.

1080ti is the fastest but its the high end graphic card out there in 10 series
faster roi can be reached with 1060 as it will be hardly two to three months

1060's wont make anywhere near as much as the 1080Ti's or 1080's but they are cheap and will get you a faster ROI at the moment.
