I have done alot of shopping myself. Amazon is a pain in the butt to figure out what you are looking for because they dont have many options to enter in. To be honest, I load up pages and pages of motherboards and by looking at the picture I can quickly count how many pcie slots it has. The more the better.
I would not use intel for anything unless it was given to me for free. Even then I would have to worry about is dying on me. I use and abuse my AMD chips and they just keep on going...
I would not worry about what it looks like, but I agree with you it is a well laid out board. EVGA makes tons of other things. I use EVGA Supernova power supplies and absolutely love them.
