Guys,

I see so many wooden frames, all working fine, but I recently read few posts where electricians are insisting on aluminium/steel frames because of something to do with how electrics work.

Any comments?

I`m looking to use wooden frame, is that a problem?

wooden rig frames easily setups but steel or aliminium rig frames also helps cards cooling. its transfer the heat as heatsink.

i made couple of aluminium rigs ... you only need some sealing tape (to isolate mb/risers from frame itself) like

here is complete rig (i used just some LPT taken from work http://www.lptooling.co.uk/index.php?id=289 )

sry for size

how to say that ... making aluminium frame is a bit hard if you make your 1st and you have "no" xp with plates ...

but you can use wood ofc, which is already made for another use Smiley
like this shoestand (i used this (but only 2 tiers) and i must make it a bit stronger in edges/legs due to coupling)

so it looks like this:

here is 3 rigs in 1 (its not complete, coz dont have enough risers) Smiley

Aluminum has way too many benefits than a wooden frame.
-It's sturdy
-Heat Conductive
-Sleeker than wood
etc.
If you have the tools, make a rig using aluminum.
Things can get more exciting if you have a 3d printer.

ehm talking about heat transfer to rig just coz it is from alu is a bit absurd ....
differecies wood/alu/plastic is 0,0nothing in heat transfer ...

dont use common plate or stainless steel ... its too heavy ... 1,5-2mm alu is more then enough and you can buy L profiles in +-6 metres all around your house coz its realy common metal product, then cut it etc ...

or buy shoestander for around 10 bugs .....

edit: yes ofc i made both alu/wood ... alu is sturdy but need a bit accuracy Wink
that shoestander (when you bought it its made in poland maybe coz its absurdly "bad" cutted and wierd material at all  ...) need stronger stands + some tapes to make it sturdier but the rest is made just exactly for this useage
