Electrum bug - what about hardware wallet paired accounts?

As the title of the post sais - in the light of the recent ELECTRUM bug, do you know if the Electrum wallet paired with the hardware wallet is NOT compromised for sure ? Or should we take steps to move our BTC because there is SLIGHT chance they may be compromised?

It's apparently of no concern because your private keys never leave your hardware wallet. Even outdated desktop clients are relatively safe for as long as the wallet in question is set up with a strong password and/or it is never opened along with a browser at the same time. Your hardware wallet should be completely safe.

If this doesn't ease your mind, then you would probably be better off if you moved your coins.

Hardware wallets are the safest way to go.  My friend rather use Electrum or Exodus wallet over a hardware wallet.
He has everything on a separate laptop just for his btc and alt coin wallets.  Limited internet usage and only connected to the wifi when he needs to update stuff.  I hope this info helps keep your coins safe.

No, AFAIK electrum is wallet for Bitcoin and can't store any altcoin. So how this can affected to oyster pearl coin?

Hardware wallets work differently. You're talking about the desktop wallet.

I dont know how electrum wallet was hacked.
just in case it's better to change the address of the wallet, it's not difficult.
after last news about meltdown, its seems nothing is impossible

It wasn't hacked. There was a vulnerability which opens the door to hackers.

It's the same case with meltdown.

The bug of electrum had been solved in their new version 3.0.5
So now you can use it without any doubt

😄 I do think that you should just upgrade the wallet the announcement has been done to upgrade.
Also , for the future how about trusting a other option ?
Because for sure if it happened once it may happen twice.
And if the hardware wallet is paired with electrum it doesn't pose any problem Because it itself isn't stored there.

But make sure to keep your keys safe and everything updated.
Otherwise unpair it and pair it with a more trustable wallet.

What i did was move out all of my bitcoin from electrum since i read that the wallet can be compromised, i came back to blockchain for now but will be going back to electrum in the following months once i know that electrum is secured again, i dont want my money to be gone just like that.
