Never put all your eggs in one basket!

In his place I would break the $1200 in 4 parts. $400 in BTC, $400 in ETH, $200 in BNB and the other $200 into the more risky coins but with a high potential. Example ARK and SHIFT.

Key to small gains to your investment but without loss(very less chances) is diversification. I believe you should invest 20% of your money in Bitcoin, 30% in top 5 cryptocurrencies(as per the market capitalization) and  30% in new altcoins like BNK and MTV(MultiVAC) and other good researched projects.
As market is leading by Bitcoin, as soon as market moves upward direction, you will get good gains with bitcoin and other top 5 currencies. Rest of your investment you can parked for long term goal to have handsome returns.
You should use your remaining 20% money buying more when market is in deep or having sharp corrections.

I never thought bull or increase bitcoin is coming in the near future. market movement may now indeed has given good marks. But if you choose the asset with the character the price up and down too fast, we can do the daily trade. monero is nice, there's also the bnb and the stellar that might be an alternative for investment and trade.

Ya, you can say whatever but it's not that easy to just blindly pick 3 or even 5 coins to invest with. Even if you invest in top 10 coins, you can still have a chance to go lose.

many people answer bitcoin, of course it's definitely bitcoin and then for me, i will invest in dogecoin. just look at the price movement of dogecoin when it rises it is very remarkable increase. hmmm $600 invest on bitcoin, $300 on dogecoin and the rest $300 maybe invest on ETH or else.

for now $ 1200 is not too small and I suggest you invest $ 1000 in bitcoin and $ 200 on altcoins that have value below $ 0.01, or maybe 50% bitcoin and 50% ETH (that's if you're confused)
