Bloomberg terminals have been the cornerstone of all financial data throughout the world, and Wall Street cannot run without these terminals. Now, Bitcoin has arrived on these Bloomberg terminals (for employees only at this stage). Is this the beginning of mainstream adoption of Bitcoin, starting from the financial institutions/Wall Street?

Great news.  Significant step on the road to mainstreaming, especially if & when they roll it out to everyone.

Given the Gox issues, probably should be using the weighted average price, though.

It indeed has repercussions beyond what people expect. The whole of Wall Street is hooked to Bloomberg, and if this get on there, it means a pathway to more mainstream adoption.
By the way, Coin Desk covered this too -

Obviously, somebody put a lot of thought in the naming of the XBT symbol: http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/XBTC:US

I think a wise man should buy XBTC shares now, and dump at about 30% profit of which will happen once XBT goes live.

Hah I like that! It's under a currency though, so it's more like XBT Crncy. Apparently there's a request to include BTC in the ISO 4217 standard that deals with currencies, so perhaps it'll change in the future.
