It's a pretty scary thought but consider this:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tanttle/emotiv-insight-optimize-your-brain-fitness-and-per

And imagine the same thing that is happening to email addresses happening to your thoughts, pretty scary that 10 years down the road when/if this technology becomes widespread it will serve as the Achilles heel of humanity whereas they will be able to put people that haven't even commited a crime in jail.

The NSA will read your brain.

Not with EEG, and not with a commercial EEG toy like emotiv.

Maybe with MRI in distant future http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MElU0UW0V3Q

Well this might be used for both good and bad purposes depending on the person but i think it's pretty revolutionary.

I would not doubt that gross emotional responses could be detected in humans.  Like 'love of Big Brother' for example.  I'm actually a little surprised that the technology does not exist now or if it does, that it's not used to ferret out the likes of Snowden before he was given root access to the machine.

Beyond that, I would not rule out the possibility that thoughts which are formulated through semi-vocal means within the mind might be tapped with some amount of precision.  At some point anyway.

There are two options as far as I see it, either distant thought reading was already done in the WW2 period or humans will never achieve that, I like to think the latter. I do not believe in super-new secret airplanes, Aurora never existed, we live in a period of demagogism and scare tactics, to tell you the truth I have no reason to believe nuclear weapons exist either.

This is certainly a real threat although I doubt as to how effective it really is, kinda scary that someone can use one of the hundreds of your Windows backdoors, plant a trojan and read your mind ("read your mind" might be a bit far fetched), kinda violates you on a whole new level.

They already have technology that can detect if a person has seen a particular object or has knowledge of a certain thing.

They spoke of using it to put pictures of bombs or such in front of something scanning for a reaction to see if they had seen it before.

That is a very broad generalization of something I probably overheard in the background on TV.

The NSA is likely the most powerful government agency in the world.  I think the current congressional outrage over Ed Snowden's revelations is particularly funny given that congress somehow believes they have the power to regulate and oversee the NSA's programs. What a joke, the NSA is clearly above their reproach.  There are crypto security clearances that are above even the President's.

I'll refrain from rambling on, but suffice it say, the all seeing eye on the back of our dollar bill is the perfect symbol for the seemingly limitless powers the NSA retains.
