So he and some friends of his own a mining farm.

How do they do that? We dont want to use Google because we are sure that what you find there is scam.

Under the assumption that your figures are correct, then this person is part of a sufficiently large mining farm. That's all there is to it.

One Rx580 makes $4 a day or $120 a month.
100 rx580 = 12000 a month
1000 rx580 = 120K a month.

You can get make much with mining. But how you put it is wrong. You can't say 120K$ is profit. It takes a lot of initial investment and Electricity and Maintenance will cost will bring down a mining profits to normal. What you guys are discussing here is just the revenue. You have to subtract the Expenses to get the profits.

This is the way people do the scam, SIMPLY THEY JUST DON'T DISCUSS ABOUT THE EXPENSES, AND SHOW AWFUL SOME OF PROFITS.

you can't mine with ETH with that kind of Card, you must have at least 3GB mem in order to mine ethash.

you can buy also the miner with them, and pay the rents, not sure, but I don't feel comfortable investing a large sum for my rigs without touching and seeing them physically.

i think it's only possible pools Mining. maybe this is the formula. KaydenC already say that

Initial investment: $500,000   (based on 1000 cards at avg price of $400/card added in another 100k for supporting hardware)

Revenue: $100,000
Depreciation: ~$50,000 (based on the schedule I use)
electric: ~10,000 (1000 cards pulling 120W/H at $0.12/Watt)
building rent/mortgage: ~2-3,000 (I'm guessing here and I doubt he is running it out of his house)

Profit would only be about 47K/month after expenses, and I'm sure I've missed a few like insurance,security,other utilities, etc.

investment 400k USD (mining farm) -> 1month = 100k USD

If you mine and hold the mined coins for one year beore you sell them you get a higher profit each month of mining if the coins increase in price. Maybe your friend mined coins one year ago during one month and sells them now? Difficulty was lower one year ago so you got more coins and the price is higher now so you get more payout for the coins. The coins he mines today maybe he is going to sell next year?

Yes. So, It's not too late to start. Store your capital, there still have lots of time ahead. Mining will be the best business investment for a while. I don't get why anyone would say it isn't profitable. As more anyone invest, as they get more profits.

You're in the mining section where you can be pretty sure that the majority of participants have invested their own hard earned money and acquired the knowledge to be in a position to earn money from their rigs. They should just give you money because....?
