What is worth 1 bitcoin? What would you buy for a single bitcoin? What would you sell for one bitcoin?

I would like this to be a historical thread, we can update it as the price of bitcoins change so we can look back at what a bitcoin is worth.

I would pay one bitcoin for:
- A good pizza.
- A t-shirt.
- An IMAX movie showing.

How creative can you be?

Historical suggestions
2011-07-08: A pizza
2011-10-08: One gallon of gasoline
2013-01-28: A box of See's Chocolates
2013-02-20: One ounce of silver
2013-03-28: One barrel of oil
2013-04-25: An android phone
2013-06-01: A used computer
2013-11-30: One ounce of gold

An ounce of gold.

Someday we will mine gold in space from asteroids or other planets, bitcoins are limited to 21M.

So for me an ouce of gold = 0.01 BTC.

I sell a month's subscription to my online 24/7* interactive automated counselling site PaulsRobot for 1 BTC. It's not really an entry-level site so I wouldn't expect many takers, but it all helps to get the idea of bitcoins out there.

*Eek. The site's offline right now as I changed something. Let's say 24-ish/7 instead. Smiley

Although this is true, there are also Namecoins which will reach 21M.

Maybe you're just paying too much. Tongue For a true side by side comparison, why not compare the electricity costs to generate each?

Man, do we have to get into a discussion of value/cost/demand market forces ?

Probably not too bad compared to mining. Innovative design does wonders

You can plant the plant outside, then it requires no electricity. It is hard to do that with bitcoins. (Although, there is an "environmentally conscious mining" thread talking about that too.)

True, but a lot is still grown indoors using electrical power so I think it could be an interesting comparison anyway.
