A very common criticism of Bitcoin and cryptos is that they have no internal value. The basic argument goes like this: unlike corporate stocks, Bitcoin (and its ilk) are not “backed” or secured by anything tangible. Thus, the crypto market represents nothing more than a speculative bubble that is doomed to bust. Well, that argument betrays a fundamental lack of understanding about each of these respective investment vehicles. Your stock portfolio is no more “secured” by tangible corporate assets than your cryptos.
