My power went out just as my linuxcoin was updating a payment made from my miner system.

Now bitcoin does not open any more giving some strange error message

1) I have no idea where the wallet.dat file is and I can't seem to find a search for file function

2) I tried to re-install the bitcoin for linux but now have a .tar file with no knowledge of what to do with it

Trying my best to be patient and not chuck this whole project.

Feel like investing in a Miner?:

so I have managed to untar the piece of crap to virtually no avail.

This so reminds me of sitting in front of the IBM PC with its dual floppies back in the day.

Grrrr!

Just curious, what version of LinuxCoin are you using?

The one from two days ago. It has been severely frustrating so far, but it looks like it will be great if I can ever understand it.

Well I've finally managed to find and email the wallet.dat file out for safekeeping

it is in .bitcoin which is a hidden directory

I am unsuccessful in deleting and/or upgrading bitcoin so far

Tomorrow I plan to re-format the USB, copy the old wallet.dat on top of the new one and hope for the best

From previous experience that will take the better part of a day or so
