Just create your wallet and segwit will be used by default (you can see as the address starts with a 3).

Fees will be lower than a legacy address, but still pretty high while the network is congested.

You can calculate the size and recommended fee of a transaction by using this website: https://coinb.in/#fees

Just select the number of inputs (segwit) and outputs of your transaction.

Bitwala is crap, why are you using it? It is the same as saying "i'm using Wirex" they both are the same crap,
only that bitwala has lower fees than wirex (a 1% less, lol)
just created an account in bitwala.com because they say they have segwit but couldnt figure it out how/where they are showing they will take less fees , help needed  Huh Huh
But you forgot something, bitwala is not letting their users change the rate per fees (the satoshis per byte) and that is the reason of why you are never going to be able to modify the fees

Guys, just use a normal wallet, do not use an exchange, or whatever you are using.

Do you use electrum 3.0.5 ?? It's important as a vulnerability has been found in electrum 2.6 to 3.0.4. I guess you do.

You can set a custom fees to transact using segwit address, even though it's not so significant as current mempool seems flooded with too many unconfirmed transactions. At least, you and the destination address have to use segwit.

First, you have to set the electrum wallet;
- Tools > preferences > Fees
- Enable (use dynamic fees)
- Enable (edit fees manually)

And now you are ready to set custom fees to send bitcoin.
Make sure to check recommended fees for current network.

Segwit addresses may start with a 3 or bc1. But not every address starting with a 3 is a Segwit one.
