Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Interesting coverage.

Again there was some errors in a bitcoin report.

The 'pro-bitcoin' man showed bitcoin on a cell phone with a big logo and claimed that bitcoins are stored in an 'encrypted' wallet. AFAIK this is not the case yet, although it's being worked on, unless he spoke about a fork. The 'anti-bitcoin' dude was weird, he just stated that it's a wacky currency, with no facts to back up his statements.

Anyway, a nice coverage this, I hope more news stations will catch up on bitcoin. I tipped some national newspapers a long time ago, but they didn't even reply.

Just so people know, the bitcoin clip is near the end of the show, around the last five minutes. I agree, the anti-bitcoin pundit was rather oblique and he really didn't say much. Of course, he works for Wired, which has fallen in quality over the past two decades. I wouldn't put much into it.

Ask not what Bitcoin can do for you - ask what you can do for Bitcoin.

Not as bad as some of the hit pieces that are out there. Bruce came across pretty good, imo.
