Hello everyone,

Opening a new pool.  It's on the "construction" phase of the front end.  Looking for other developers who would be interested in running the pool with me as well.  I'm covering the server expense out of pocket, looking for other members who can code and help work on website, any success will be equally shared between all original members.

As for miners, there is a "generic" status page for you to see the actual details you need.

Again, this is a very new pool and needs members to hash and to code! It's all free of charge, no fees.

Wish you luck but it seems you are using the standard stats output from stratum-mining and running this from your home connection.  Good for testing not for "real" pool...

Hopefully some folks with skills can help you out...  Grin

As I had previously mentioned in the first post, it is the "generic" stats, while the front end is being constructed.  As far as a home connection a simple DNS lookup would show otherwise; but I'll save you the trouble and tell you it's not hosted from a home connection. Smiley

As it sits even with the generic basic stats it still is quite capable of running a pool with no issues.

Thanks for the feedback though, but you really should of read my original post! Smiley

Apologies...

btcminers.net is at your Comcast addy while stratum.btcminers.net is at Digital Ocean.

I know the software and you are right it is functional.

In this time of mining, your chances of success will be much greater if you have a site that kicks the pants off everything else out there.  With that you MIGHT get people to switch.  So build it and then they MIGHT come...

Correct good sir..  Front end be constructed no need to pay additional fees until things are done and the capacity needs to be increased for web hosting purposes.

Just a word of warning...Digital Ocean's connection stability is about as reliable as a shared hosting provider (translation: worse than home connections) based on the last few months I've used them for an IRC bouncer.

Where are you being hosted from?  I've yet to have any issues with them and have been quite pleased to date thus far.

Good deal!  I see 500GH/s and looked through logs and see no errors, I'm still working on the front end but that's good to know the back end is pretty solid!

As for now the pool is up and running with construction in progress.  I've pointed 5-6GH/s there, I'm hoping some individuals that do not care immediately for all the 'frills' and understand this is a 100% free PPLNS pool.  You can access all the required information and do a quick mathematical equation to give you your estimated payout against the amount of shares you have to the current difficulty.  So if you would like to join a free pool that is looking for help running it, let me know! Smiley

Hope to see some new hashers soon! Smiley

As a bonus, all of the members of the BTCMiners at the end of the first block I will randomly select from the participants to receive a free copy (legit, bought the package, "Me+Friend") of "Don't Starve" on Steam.

After it has been completed, the winner will be announced on here and details of how you will receive it will be discussed after the first block is found.

Is this PPLNS with shifts?  If so, what % of DIFF will each shift be?

By default, I believe the stratum server uses a "shift" method based on the currently difficulty rate around 55M shares per "shift", or until the difficulty rises and then the "shift" amount X is raised to the new difficulty level.  Correct me if I am wrong, but this is my understanding of it and also my understanding of how the stratum server works.  So, in short, yes per "shift".

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=39832

Yes, I understand PPLNS.  (Or I feel I do..)  To answer your question, I haven't modified the stratum server for fees or such so it's simply how many shares you have contributed to the total amount and it's all equally divided accordingly to how many shares you have submitted.  I charge nothing to run the pool all fees are given to every user based off of their total shares submitted to the current shift being the current difficulty.

I may or very well could be wrong, I'm new to this obviously; so I'm not saying I am 100% sure on this, but to my understanding this is how the default setup works.

Stratum server has nothing related to the payment method. Availably opensource implementation do not support any payments at all.
Stratum fork with basic frontend and database support without huge modification may used only for plain PPS.
Anyway, this fork has several bugs, so it can not be used on real pool server.

So until a front end is actually made to actually do the calculations, stratum server's default front end along with its backend will not pay out automatically?  I was under the impression it did; again, new to this and am doing my research as I go along, pretty much like everyone else who started at some point.. but if this is true, I may re-consider running a new pool and switch back to a free P2Pool in that case.

I wanted to add a new pool to help diversify the pools out there since I can afford the server costs alone outside of what I make with BTC, consider it a "do good" for BTC in the sense that the server bill will never ever have any bearing on the pool itself as long as it doesn't run me over $500/month.  I have a more powerful server which I could colo elsewhere that is a hex core w/ 32GB mem and SSD in RAID 1 with 3 1Gbps nics so the capacity in such of equipment isn't the issue it's more or less in the design and coding right now that is hindering me from moving forward.  I can and will have the front end done at some point, but when? I'm not sure.

If the default stratum server doesn't really do much outside of just letting people connect and mine, I will stop it and may pursue a P2Pool instead given that the coding and such -could- be out of my spectrum of experience, unless someone wants to hop on board to help.

dbitcoin is right, the stratum server itself does not handle payments. it just manages pooled share submission to bitcoind and logs the shares in a database table, if you have that enabled and configured.
Your front end + database will handle all the payouts and worker management.

Well then, it sounds with my workload I currently DO NOT have to work on a front end in a timely manner I'll just go back to P2Pool and run that for a month or so to see if anyone even will use it.   If not, it'll just get shut down.

Locking thread since I'm disabling the pool.
