Finished my wine and was preparing for the night when I started receiving multiple news update in Facebook that Kraken is down.

It started several hours ago when Ripple groups' members were posting that they aren't receiving their Ripples or they can't withdraw it. Then shortly after, numerous posts that the site is down.

Website: https://www.kraken.com/

Now many rumours said they're behaving exactly like MTGOX's incident - a static page with a maintenance message before disappearing. All orders, API and so forth are not working.

Because of these concerns many FUD reports have been going around that they've been hacked. But of course, we ain't gonna fall for that.

Any Kraken users here? Care to update us on it? Like any email notification? I'm not a user there so I can't say much but it is very unnatural for an exchange to go offline so suddenly without any early notifications and for that long.

EDIT:
https://status.kraken.com/

At least they're continuously updating their status page to give users some assurance.

Just hope it is really just maintenance and upgrades. If it is another hack, BTC and all altcoins are gonna have another dive.

I always trusted (as far as you can trust people you don`t know with your money...) Kraken because it was around in the beginning and never got hacked or went away.
In the beginning of the crypto world i have seen many exchanges going down or got hacked or just simply stole the money.
So it has a plus in my book even after the last 2 months the server was hard to reach.
But i can tell you that a long down time like this does not make me happy.

Like always...spread your investments!
So you spread the risk!

Latest news from kraken:
" Update - We are preparing to relaunch the site shortly. All orders have been canceled. More details to come soon.
Jan 13, 09:32 UTC"

The way they've made system upgrade is completely unprofessional. It's about money... huge money and
they just deploy and test the new system in production!!! Not a staging environment, not a sandbox, but production.
OK, even if they've found some critical issue, they should've rolled back immediately to the stable working version.
NO, they kept fixing the issue for 50 hours making all people panicking like hell.

Their messages were like "Thank you for your continued patience while we work through these unexpected and delicate issues."
When I read 'delicate' I think that my money are gone... This is ridiculous.. And the best one: "we will push off a bit to get some rest and be able to better monitor systems and react to problems following launch. Unfortunately, this means several more hours of delay. "
