Personally, music industry doesn't even need a currency, digital or traditional.
It's a matter of art and talent that makes it worthwhile for the public to listen to them.
But musicians need to eat too. With platforms like Youtube or others, they can earn revenue and I think these are enough as a tool.

If whenever the Digital Currencies became mainstream, these said platforms may adopt to the most accessible or accepted blockchain.
