Hi
I have tried quite a few pools. I make the most money with deepbit and really do not understand why. He charges 3% which is 1% higher than most others. I would suggest trying a few pools for a few weeks and run the numbers.

Just pick a pool you like... Sometimes a pool is lucky, sometimes it's not... Variance, it's called...

over a long enough time period you won't see much difference no matter where your miners are pointing. 800 mhash will only produce so many shares an hour. To maximize your potential earning I would go to a pool with 0% fee and perhaps some bonuses as this will increase your earning. But like i said over a long enough time line it doesnt matter which pool you join. Larger pools have less variance in earning. Smaller pools you will make much more btc at one time but may not find a block for a week. For example deepbit perhaps you make .007 btc a round. and say you find 20 blocks in a day. thats .14 btc a day thats .98 btc a week. In a pool with less workers you may not find a block for a week but your expected payout for that block for a weeks worth of work will roughly be the same as if you went with a larger pool.

Hi
I am sorry but saying the pool does not matter is simply ignorant. There is a reason deepbit has the most users. My stale % at slush's was 2-3%. My stale at deepbit is 0.49%.
goto pit.deepbit.net:8332 and forget the rest.

Hi
Looking at my BTCmine connection for 3x HD5870 cards: 2623 accepted, 10 rejected 2613 accepted, 14 rejected 2612 accepted, 10 rejected Makes a total of 7848 Accepted and 34 rejected. That's 0.43% stales...

just as i suspected really ! my stale at BTCmine is only 0.3% at the mo ! and it costs me nothing to mine with them....i see no reason to change, thanks for confirming my suspicions

Yep, and there are some pools that have even lower stales rates

Hi
Its simply ignorant to compare slush to deepbit and generalize all pools as such. There are a lot of pools with 0% and less than .5% stales which would mean you make more for your work as your not getting your 3% taken off the top. Like I said over a long enough time period in the end it will be equal sure for a day perhaps deepbit is better than slush and for a day btc guild is better than both. Variance exists no matter what size of pool you are in. The bigger the pool the less variance by no means does that mean there is no variance

If your have rigs that mine 24/7, flip a coin. If you're a part-time miner, pick one of the bigger pools.

split it up with various pools if you are actually going for 24/7 uptime. Otherwise it will most likely have some big chunks of downtime.

Agreed. I have been running two 5770 for some time now while having my real mining rig backordered. Well, today we gfinallygo online with the first 6950... pathetic. Anyhow, downtime last week was brutal. Either run 2-3 miners per GPU pointing to different pools, or install and use a relay proxy that can handle downtime on the uplink (i.e. the pool), preferably in a load balanced failover setup (which, btw., is what I will do starting this week). Some people seem to like attacking pools with DDOS attacks.

You could try my pool. It is a smaller pool so you get higher variance, but I'm giving away a 5% bonus on all work done until we have produced 60 blocks. We also have few stales, and a custom miner that is quite fast on 69xx GPUs (but you can use any miner you want). It will take a bit longer between each time you get paid, but you'll make more bitcoins in the end.

I mine at 3 different pools constantly. Whenever there is a ddos attack, the others just pick up the slack. Diversify.
Don't mine at Deepbit. Their +50% monopoly won't end well for any of us. Your greed will destroy us all.

I'm currently mining at bitminter because of the extra 5%, I recommend it also you could try multiclone, but that's if you're greedy and don't mind waiting extra days for your money

That's not how the miner is intended to work Do you have any more details? Do you get a bluescreen? Windows lock up and you have to reboot? Or just the bitminter miner crashing? Edit: getting a bit off topic with this - please PM me any details you have so I can try to fix the miner
