Hey, how many of you played a browser game like ogame? Or another kind of game browser based? What if this game would be stored on top of blockchain and with a built-in cryptocurrency for the in-game economy. Lately this coin could be traded on exchangers giving the coin real value.

Would like to receive your feedback, if it's even worth to start something like this.

I've read it before, but my idea is not to develop a faucet. Just a game built on top of blockchain with a built-in economy in cryptocurrency form.

That's what my concept is all about. The game simply allows to withdraw your earnings if you prefer.
I've edited my thread so you might get a clearer image this time.

Well, would it be a real cryptocurrency or just "fiction blockchain" like you say in your thread? could i download a node and start verifying tx or mine the coin outside the game?

I've played quite a bit of Ogame a few years ago and also CastleQuest 2, if someone remembers that? Wink
While I'd personally love to see a game like that incorporate Bitcoin or crypto in general, I don't think it will ever become popular again like it used to be.

These games are dying and I really doubt that many people would join a new game like that. It'll probably be a niche, not that that's bad or anything, I'd love to see it being built.

What are you saying, that browser-based games are dying, or just browser games that are like oGame?

Whatever you are making, don't turn it into an RPG-based game.
You will face a huge issue of teen and grade-school population who doesn't even have a hint on what's behind the game.

OGame was quite successful because of the mechanics and the nice artworks.
Personally, I don't like space-based games.
You can make one that copies the same principle (different theme) while adding the collectionXcustomization part from CryptoKitties.
Meticulously look for exploits, it's crytocurrency-based, more chances to have one.

One thing I would like to tell you:
The real reasons for the success of games is the Hype that the developers create.
I have seen a lot of good titles that didn't sell well because of lack of advertising.
And seen OK titles which made a fortune only after the launch (I don't need to name them).

Only the longevity of the game will be affected by its quality.

Massively multiplayer online browser games are doing very good, when you monetize them and when you keep it free to play.

I play a lot of https://plarium.com/ browser games and enjoy it a lot as a "Blow off steam" exercise.... One day they might

accept Bitcoin and then I would go through the roof.  Grin  ....That game is asking for Bitcoin monetization.  Wink

Wot like earning CoD points and then being able to sell them on !

Soon all the free stuff on the internet will become VIP content and you will end up
sending micro-payments from you browser to download .pdf files and stuff

Google you can bet is already expanding chrome API to expose wallet functions
to the DOM to allow custom wallets to be used with a number off alt-coins

See the "Brave" browser for whats in stall for us but this one is hard coded to use BAT

Google is not to be trusted and I wrote a chrome extension that blocks URLs but for some
address belonging to google the API does not call my code so you cannot block them and
google sends out a ClientID but hides it in the User-Agent and they told everyone that
they had stopped doing this.

Mining is CPU-wars and Intel, AMD like it nearly as much as big oil likes miners wasting electricity. Is this what mankind has come too.

Well these games are using in-game tokens {crystals} at the moment, but you have to buy these with traditional payment

methods, eg. Credit cards. I would like these game developers to bypass these expensive payment methods and to accept

Bitcoin directly. They can even incorporate micro payments within the game. {say you want to upgrade something, then you

just click on it, and pay the fee and it is instantly upgraded... no waiting period.}  Grin

Brave pay you for using their explorer.... but they sell your data.  Roll Eyes

Are you having a laugh  Cheesy or did you not get the memo that Bitcoin fees have been as high as $55 ?

Lots of software developers will be cutting code so that other alt-coins can be used instead of BTC
that has priced itself out of the market and my guess is they won't come back because no one likes having
a knife held to their throats.

Just now the only coin I know that's cheap to send and can scale to anything near whats needed is
Ripple and even IOTA is not up for the job, Lightning on BTC is not in the race and the horse only has
three legs anyway.
