If they are USB 3 then you could have potential issues with the raspberry pi

If they are USB 3 then you could have potential issues with the raspberry pi yes, that's why I'm asking. I would imagine them to be usb 3.0 for more power (vs. usb 2.0).

The main cost driver is Bitfury and their selling practices/pricing. I'm expecting a price-war soon enough on the ASICs, and we are doing everything we can do shrink our costs on the BOM. Megabigpower is currently selling 1 chip @ 1BTC. Cost per GH on low density devices will soon hit a floor anyhow, even friedcat has to pay his vendors and all. Worst case I make a few hundred of them for me and my friends, my motivation is for personal fun and education, as well as making a contribution to the community. As always we will keep things open and transparent.
I'd considered buying a large number of block erupters to basically give away— I think everyone that wants to try out mining should be able to... but the poor power efficiency compared to what was coming made me think twice: doesn't make sense to give away a bunch of devices which wouldn't produce much bitcoin but would also be operating at a loss in just a few months. A bitfury based device would be a lot more attractive, but with 1BTC chips, its sadly too far outside of the range that would be interesting as a giveaway.

Honestly I will ship them in two months or more when I can buy them much cheaper and have mined the piss out of em for you! Oh and just cause I'm a nice guy I will call you a cocksucker and a monumental asshole for asking me any questions (I learnded my leet bizness model from BFL!)

And just like that the offer gets pulled. The bitfury chip situation right now doesn't make any sense. Hopefully they figure out something that is more equitable and supportive of the DIY community.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266235.0These were selling for less than 1BTC, 2BTC for a Bitfury thumb is a ripoff. Bitfury chips were selling for $20ea in reels of 3,000, so if you charge 2BTC what's the other $180+ for?

The drillbit thumbs are selling for $99 for October delivery and it will likely be the latter half of the month. bitfury chips are $60K per reel of 3000 for October delivery. If you bought them in July/August they were priced at $130 If you want them now they are $108
cheers, kev
