According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I get a small trickle from Bitcoin Kamikaze, but I'm "the house" Smiley

Most of my current balance of bitcoins came from being at the right place, right time when feathercoin was launched and buying low, and then selling 'slightly higher than low'. Should have sold high.

Always turn my alt-coin into btc.
Ltc gets me the most profit though.
Btc to me is like holding a CD.

I'm actually using virwox as it accepts credit cards and paypal. But I'm just buying small amounts..
I read about localbitcoins but I don't want to meet with anyone (scarying stories around this board)...
Cheers Smiley
I have met dozens of people through localbitcoins.com and every single one of them has been totally great.

Well one guy never showed up at all but I sure don't consider that a "horror story".

Just meet in a very public place - like a coffee shop with free WiFi.

Our family was terrorized by Homeland Security.  Read all about it here:  http://www.jmwagner.com/ and http://www.burtw.com/  Any donations to help us recover from the $300,000 in legal fees and forced donations to the Federal Asset Forfeiture slush fund are greatly appreciated!

You're right, I see it's possible, but, what's the comfort of using Internet, peer to peer coin, if I have to go downtown for exchange a few dollars (euro actually)...
Actually I just buy some BTC just to reinvest them in some ASIC USB (ebay is too much expensive)...
I hope in future they'll find an easier way...

I pick them up a little at a time from faucets and websites where you can earn them for viewing ads and doing other simple things.  I have compiled quite a list which I keep adding to Smiley

I can't say enough in favor of Coinbase. Doing ACH through your Bank account is so easy after you set it up. Just don't use it if you plan on trading, way to slow. Park some USD on an exchange if you plan to trade.

If you don't like Coinbase I can understand but stay away from anything with Paypal.

They have become even more shitty lately and are really unfriendly with anything to with Bitcoin. You could very easily get scammed and have no recourse.
